BLOW THE CLEANING (08/11/09)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA   Daylight arrived and not a cloud in the sky, so managed to convince myself that the cleaning could wait. Looking at this I'm not sure how!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA    THE ROYAL NAVY COLLEGE DARTMOUTH.......Famous for training not only our naval officers but those from navies around the world. It was also where our queen met Prince Philip.

We caught the ferry and wandered down to Dartmouth castle. Walking much better today as I purchased a support bandage for my ankle.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAPity about the van. There are some great buildings here. Dutch influence dominates the architecture, actually scaffolding has the upper hand as they are not allowed to repair buildings in summer.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     BAYARDS COVE FORT.....This was the final defence for the port and built by the merchants of Dartmouth around 1534 to wreck havoc on any marauding vessels that managed to get past Kingswear and Dartmouth castles.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA The outside, best I could do without swimming.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA DARTMOUTH CASTLE.....Arrived to find they didn't admit dogs so this was the best I could do.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA        Stopped at Warfleet on the way back, this is Half Tide Rock with Kingswear in the background.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA      An old lime kiln at Warfleet.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     The dilly dallying cost us another couple of soakings fortunately mild when compared to those of the last few days. Provided some good rainbows, it's been an excellent week for rainbows.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA   AND ANOTHER.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     AND YET ONE MORE TO FINISH...........Worth getting wet.

  2. You really do have some nice photographs here. And I am especially fascinated with the top one where your laptop stands out like a bandage on the thumb. Nice shot. I like the idea of the amount of space required to make life worth living and how little space is really needed. My office I am sitting in at the moment is a lot of space equal to 4, 9x12 foot rooms. As one large room the entire center is empty. It is nice to have space but we could get by with a lot less.

The rest of your pictures are splendid and I liked them all. What a different lifestyle there is everywhere else in the world.

  4. I just caught up with the shots you've published while I was away from blogging. Great work as always. (It doesn't hurt that you are in one of the most beautiful areas of our world.) I'll bet the cleaning that needed to be done before you left was right there waiting for you when you returned. ;)

  5. Another lovely day out! Not too sure about the getting wet part. That is a beautiful part of the world you are in now, isn't it? Hope you manage to get the tidying done soon! Maybe I should delete that? Nah, let's be honest, the van needs tidying. (It's up to your friends to be honest with you!)

  6. Lovely images Adrian. I can recall doing a very similiar trip a few years ago so they do bring back memories.

  8. I can see that the pig stye we live in really holds sway over my attempts at artistic interpretation of where we are. I'm off to Dartmoor in the morning...no internet... but if I get chance will post a picture of the truck ready to roll, along with some great pyrotechnics.
Keith, Molly loves them when the children cheer she barks, great fun.
Tricia, it was! and amazingly was done this morning, being at sea for over half my life instils it into one.
Emma thanks, one of two to appreciate our standing in rain to take rainbows.
Trevor, heading down your way, tame those birds.
Pauline we do laundry once a year whether it needs it or not,
Abe, space is in the mind, When we step outside, we have Texas.
Valerie, no problem, I shoot you enjoy, the day you don't tell me.
Thanks one and all, actually had to do some work this week so am totally exhausted.

  9. I consider myself well-travelled where England and Wales are concerned but yet again you've taken me somewhere new. Thanks.

Laundry once a year! I do it at least twice a year: in the bath water each time I have a bath.
