SLIMED OUT. (27/07/15)

I spent or to be more precise the camera and strobes spent six hours yesterday trying to get a time lapse of the slime mold. Nothing much happened and then the mold shrivelled up and died.
It's raining again so here is some time lapse I've popped together. I was going to use it in a video and more than likely still will.....I'll leave it a while in the hope that you'll forget.
Here is CLOUDS.

  1. Shame about the slime - a case of 'I'm shy Mary Ellen, I'm shy.'
I'm always fascinated watching the way clouds (and winds) move in different directions at different levels. A great clip.
With the clear tops of a close hedge(?) moving and the stiller vegetation in the background it gives a 3D effect to the view.

    1. John. I didn't consciously shoot it like that. I record time lapse in sRAW which is abut 1570ish. it means I have plenty to play with on a 720 video. I could go to full Raw but the file sizes seem to take forever to process.
I would like a 4K camera but would need a new computer to handle the files.

  2. Nice time lapse. I am just as glad not to see anymore slime mold. I've quite enough of it this summer.

    1. John, it's harmless stuff. I guess you buy cheap compost from a garden centre. I would treat it as a bonus.

  3. I love the video time lapse Adrian. MORE! and you put very suitable music to go with it also.

    1. Margaret, I didn't sync the music and should have done but not to worry.

  4. Nice time lapse video of the clouds. We've had a lot of shifting skies here too lately :)

  6. It's probably a good thing that the slime mold gave up the ghost...after reading yesterdays post I had visions of you waking up this morning encased in a slimy yellow overcoat!

It's not something that we usually take too much notice of in 'real time' but sped up in a time lapse it's interesting to see just how the clouds are constantly evolving....[;o)

    1. Trevor, I don't know why the slime mold didn't grow. I'll see if I can find some more but it doesn't last very long in the wild.
I don't have much luck with filming fungi or molds.

  10. Nice time lapse of the clouds and sky. Your countryside looks so nice and green!

    1. Linda, it is all the rain that causes the green.

  12. I think clouds beat slime, every time. But then, what do I know?

  13. Not only are Krakatoa incapable of spelling their name correctly, they have put "breath" in place of "breathe" in the tune's title. Numbskulls! But it didn't spoil my appreciation of the time lapsed film clip.

    1. YP, I'll check it could be me being a numbskull. I usually have text I'm animating written on a Post It note. I rarely think to read what I've animated.

  14. That's really cool! I don't know how you would top this. Clouds build up, swirl and move in two different direction. Also you have some plants moving in the wind.

    1. Red, it is quite common to see low level and high level winds moving in different directions. More so when there are a few hills about.

  15. I like to see clouds moving in different directions at different levels in real life, but in the video I found it quite disconcerting. Enjoyed the earthly view, though.

    1. Pauline, I wish I could have kept the camera running whilst it rained but it would have got too wet.

    1. Graham, there is an App for I-phones that does time lapse video.

    2. Thanks Adrian. I've downloaded one. I'll give it a try when I find a suitable moment and subject.
