Hotel bars are not the same.<br />The breathalyzer, smoking ban and extended opening hours have all led to the demise of proper pubs and the worst of all is allowing children in. There are still some good ones around but they get fewer as the years go by.. One of the (very few) things I miss about England is the pub. There are a few in Scotland but they are not the same. Mind you the pubs I used to frequent in England have so changed that one can hardly call them pubs now anyway.
