Well not quite but the weekend was notable for cloudless skies and little wind. Saturday morning I wandered down to Foyers Pier to creep up on a Wren that lives there. The little blighter was hopping about in the Gorse bushes and though it was close it wouldn’t sit in the open.
Sunday was great, but very cold and I forgot my gloves. I was out for a couple of hours and the sun took an hour to appear over the hills and warm my fingers.
I spent twenty minutes walking this way and that to try and creep up on the Goldeneyes. They have radar and can swim as fast as I can walk. This is the best yet, at least I can see it’s golden eye.
More Hair Ice. This is the largest example I’ve found and the fronds are about two inches long. I suspect this is the last of it for this year. The stick it is growing on is about a foot to eighteen inches long.
We got back to the van to find half a flock of my favourite birds decimating my fat ball feeder. The little sods had unhooked it and eaten the lot so decimation is a vast understatement.
Have a good week.
