We have driven down from County Durham to Derbyshire for a few days. I stopped in Sheffield at my friendly photographic shop… Harrisons Cameras. It is a magical place……..it’s full of all things snappy………….I wanted to negotiate on Santa's behalf for a new E-5. I know!………… I hope it will be the last camera I purchase too. I also know that a Cannnickon would in many respects offer better performance but not at £1500.00p. At Least twice that for anything with the same build quality. My camera has a hard life. Plus I have a load of Four Thirds lenses, three less than I had this morning as I found a mint 8mm f1:3.5. Half new price, still in it’s box so chopped four lenses in paid a bit in cash and now have a proper full frame fisheye…………brilliant it is one can have ones feet and forehead in every shot. Almost take self portraits from behind the camera.
Harrisons Cameras or a small corner of it…………price they are these lenses should be able to see round corners. This was the test shot, no need for more than one as it has a years warrantee. It is a great place, three or four assistants who know everything and don’t try to sell one a guarantee. It has a downside………..I would be a wealthy man if all I had was Jessops to shop in.
Home…………yes there is distortion but I’m impressed…………these are off camera so could be pulled around in Photoshop. Have to grow the canvas a bit but I will have a play.
The weather is abysmal, just back in from a walk with the dogs……..foggy………raining that rain that has you soaked in a jiffy but doesn’t look like rain.
As I’ve been uploading images that I want on this machine I thought I’d pass a few on from March this year. Amazing how my mood dictates the image on the camera. I’m determined to re tag with sub folders for happy and not so happy…………..The following are all happy believe it or believe it not.
My Birthday on March the first. Not angel cakes but cooked by an angel.
Mallard incoming…….I have also put my long lens in for a full rebuild didn’t realize how bad it had got………….thought it was me being a muppet.
A misty day on Windermere……Much like here but it works better there.
Moon in Ravenglass. Hand held in half a gale and rain. Appalling quality but one I like.
Bit chilly today…………..is it still there?
That’s all. I really hope this weather improves then I’ll show you a little more of Derbyshire. if it doesn’t then it’s back into the murky depths of the hard drive.
An interesting piece, Adrian.
ReplyDeleteA good shopping you had, and, some pictures you have got. Nice.
ReplyDeleteThat's an impressive lens Adrian. Couple of good results so far from it.
ReplyDeleteGreat selection from the archives too. Love the one of the swan.
My nearest real photographic shop is much like yours, everything costs and arm and a leg but the service and knowledge is superb.
ReplyDeleteThe swan photo is a real cracker Adrian.
Emma, Thanks, a dredging the bottom of the barrel piece.
ReplyDeleteBob, better tan shopping for clothes.
Keith, It should be capable of some interesting effects will focus down to three inches, so if nothing else it will be good for quiz shots.
The swan was taken on Windemere. They are tame there.
John, the hammer the debit card takes is the disadvantage. It is a pleasure to go in and purchase is far from obligatory. I have been in many a time for a chat or advice. How long it will last is anyone's guess but they are busy enough at the moment.
