THREE-TWO-ONE (18/12/11)

Now it isn’t a bad day if I discount several freezing rain showers.

We were out at six thirty and it was fine, a bit of moon and the odd star twinkling away. I took a big torch with me in case I found the deer. Thought a bit of lamping might help to keep the beggars still.  I never found them so that was a waste of time.

What do you call a blind deer?

No idea!

What do you call a legless blind deer?

Still no idea!

Sorry about that I’m trying to get into the Christmas spirit.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI did find my Christmas tree. Several in fact. I’m just hoping they will grow in time. Perhaps I’m being a little optimistic, perchance I should have started it off a bit earlier.

Now onto the three-two-one bit.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Three from yesterday afternoon……….This is the White Lodge at Chatsworth.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Two from our second walk this morning…….plenty of deer but miles away and the other side of the river. These are mainly hinds but there are two or three mature stags still with them. Usually they have split into all male and all female groups with immature stags staying with the females. It must have been the warm autumn that has confused things.

_C169971_2_3_4_5_tonemapped_edited-1Finally, one from Friday. A view down the Derwent valley from the Hunting Tower. A rather gloomy view but never mind.

It’s a good job the Magi didn’t have to contend with this weather, travelling at night must have been a problem without a head torch, it’s bad enough with. Bet they and the camels fell over a lot. I do with a lamp. I only glimpse the stars about once a fortnight. Have all on, finding Palestine not to mention Bethlehem and a bit of a stable. I wonder what Jesus did with the gold, frankincense and myrrh? (Bet a pound to a shilling Joseph couldn’t spell Frankincense or Myrrh. I had six goes before spill chucker even recognised my efforts and I’m heducated ham I). Those naughty Romans stole it. That’s my best guess.

That’s all for today.

  1. Hahaha! Love the joke about Frankincense and Myrrh!!
On another note, this last shot of the Denwent Valley is very nice (my opinion), love the colours and the mist!
Enjoy the rest of the day!

  2. Plenty of deer there Adrian, and the last White Lodge has an interesting processing effect.

  4. I really like the last picture. It looks like it should be the cover of a book of fairy tales.

The gold might have come in handy when they had to flee to Egypt. (That comes out of my head rather than my theology books though.)

  5. I was still groaning over "still no eye dear" but I got over it quickly when I saw that final incredibly beautiful image. WOW!

  6. A wonderful piece of Christmas jollities..
Bad cracker jokes to start with and a re-write of the nativity at the end.
The middle bit was lovely to see Adrian and I have put Chatsworth in my diary for next year.
Not visited for well over 10 years maybe more.

  9. Jokes - humph - don't give up the day job ;)
With the title I was expecting a photo of a dusty bin.

The final White Lodge photo has a feel of Fujicolour about it.

  10. DeeBee, Many thanks.

Keith, I like the effect Michael Orton inspired.

    Hilda, thank you.

Monica, I'm glad they used the gold to good effect.

Hilary, it is the time of year for awful jokes.

Andrew, I will have a look at the gardens this week. It is worth a look round.

Gillian, I wish I could get close to the deer regularly.

    Bob, many thanks.

John, It is the Orton effect. You have a guided edit in Elements 10. Sorry about the joke.

  11. Adrian, you'll have to stop buying those cheap Christmas crackers the jokes are terrible!

    Great pictures of your walks.

I really like the last one of the White Lodge, that's a great effect.... But, that last image of the Derwent valley is a stunner...[;o)

Just a thought; if it wasn't for the Romans, what would be the point of Easter?

  12. Trevor, it isn't one of my best jokes but it is one of my better printable ones.
Thanks, I could do with a sunny day.
I'll do a seeing to on the last white lodge. Thanks.
What have the Romans got to do with chocolate? Thought that was the Aztecs. It's okay. Twigged! The Romans introduced rabbits.
