A GOOD WEEKEND (17/01/12)

I have had a weekend off. One night at the Old Hill Inn and one at the Station Inn. Yes I did have a little more of the falling down water than I should have. I didn’t fall down though.

_1161076_77_78_79_80_tonemapped_edited-1Ribblehead railway viaduct. Not a cloud in the sky, a beautiful weekend.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASee!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA The Station Inn. I’ve driven past it many times but this is the first time I’ve stopped. It’s a grand place.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA The dogs soon made themselves at home.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Landlady Jo. It’s well worth a stop.

Tomorrow I’m going back to Leighton Moss for a week and then on to Patterdale. I have done a Seeing to Pictures today should anyone be interested. Feed back as ever will be gratefully received.

Have a good week.

  3. Nibbles on the bar - usually a good sign of a welcoming hostelry.
What are the pooches favourite tipple when out or are they just there to make sure to point in the right direction when leaving lol.
I've seen many photos of weather forecasting stones - I wonder who was the first bight spark to think it up. A good sense of humour whoever it was.

  7. Wow, that Railway bridge/viaduct is just awesome, we don't have anything like that here in Canada, mainly steel bridges. The Station Inn is just wonderful to see, appreciate your photos always. Your little dogs are sooo cute, love to see them doing so well.

  8. I really do miss the old English Pub. Scotland has few comparable hostelries and NZ has none. Nor, these days it seems, does much of England!

  9. Aaaaahhhhh! You are back Adrian! Superb shot of this viaduct with a gorgeous sun as well! I love you "public houses", this is something we don't have in France, we just have ordinary cafes where people get drunk or upmarket cafes where you need a mortgage to purchase a drink, and anyway the ambiance is totally different! This one looks great!
    Looking for tomorrow's shots!

  10. Those dogs know a good pub when they see one. Wonder how that can happen? Looks good to me, too.

  13. Bob, two days on the trot. Time to dry out.

    Joop, thank you.

John, proper pubs are few and far between. If they just banned children then they would be perfect.
The stone is an old joke. It still amuses me.

DeeBee, I was working in Les Sables D'Olone many years ago and though not pubs there were a couple of good bars.

Andrew, a grand place. I don't know why I have missed it for so long.

Petrus, time to sneak out for an allotment inspection.

    Michelle, thank you.

Horst, the dogs enjoy a visit to the pub.

Graham, they are getting rare. South of Derby probably extinct.

Pauline, they must have had a boozy owner in a previous life.

Keith, It is a good pub. Reasonable prices too.

Katherine, they do but catch fire from time to time. The smell of cooking dog is vile.
