THE CLIMATE OF KINROSS. (23/07/12)

A funny old place is Fife whilst England basks in a heat wave I am being subjected to high winds and torrential rain showers. There have been sunny spells but not for a couple of days so I’m going to treat you to a few panoramas of the countryside round about.

I’ve been down to Loch Leven looking for Osprey, not only is this bird conspicuous by it’s absence so are it’s avian friends.

carnbo3 The Lomond hills and Loch Leven………But I have to admit mainly grass and sunshine.

carnbo4 A change from grass, a field of potatoes…………they appear to be thriving.

carnbo2 Grass again and a pylon or so.

P7212541_2_3_4_5_tonemapped_edited-2A close up of the pylon.

I really hope that summer appears in time for the Olympics. I also hope that as a nation we can get into the spirit of the occasion and welcome both athletes and visitors alike with sunshine and hospitality. I am not optimistic, it seems to me that the terrorists have already won with security forces outnumbering competitors. What ever happened to the stoicism that once ruled here? Ignore the buggers and lets party, nobody lives forever so let us face the threat of Islamic fundamentalists and defeat it by ignoring it.

Immigration officials are threatening disruption, they obviously have a vastly overrated sense of their importance and efficiency. Had I the inclination or desire I can think of a dozen ways of discreet arrival into the UK. Long gone are the days when we had borders. I suspect so long are they gone that they never existed except in the minds of pompous governments and an incompetent band of border officials. Should they decide to withhold their services then upon their return to work they should be detailed to supervise the arrivals and departures at a rain, sleet and windswept swept pier head in Mallaig or somewhere equally dour. They could be put to patrolling remote beaches and cliff tops like the excise men of old….too good for them! I would quite like that job myself.

I’m a touch depressed……………….it’s this bloody weather. Have a good week.

  1. Like the Lomond hills and Loch Leven, and you must have been lying down to take the picture of the pilon. Hope your weather and mood improve. Hope you have a good week.

  3. I could never get my spuds in such straight lines on my allotment years ago.

Summer certainly arrived here today Adrian; very hot.
As for the sport thing, I'll be glad when it's all over.
Easiest way to get in this country is land on a beach somewhere; especially when it's raining, there's no-one there.

Potato field looks lush..could be right here in northern Maine row after row of them up there too!
Hope the weather changes, and you get back your spunk!

  5. That much rain would certainly get to me, too. Really.. your border guards are hinting at a strike during the Olympics? I agree with your natural consequence if that should occur. Lovely landscapes but today, I'm especially enjoying the pylon (tower?). This perspective makes it look like a geometric star.

  6. Great panoramic images. I love how you have captured the potato lines and of course the Pylon, my kinda thing :-)
This week as I've been watching the progress of the bomb proof gates being erected around St James Park for the Olympic football. What the authorities don't get is the passion about the place on normal match days as opposed to the contrived atmosphere that they are trying to create outside the ground. I'm sure many of the ticket holders would prefer an excursion from Mallaig pier ... err, I know I would :-)

  7. Too many people and all of them crazy.....the open air is perfect away from the city and chaos. Looks like a beautiful area to just let the dogs run. Feel better.

  8. My husband's nephew and his wife and family live in Fife, and for the past week or so, we've been watching their photos on facebook of the river behind their house rising ever closer to their patio and back door. So far, they're safe, so let's hope that keeps up! So I can sympathise with your desire for a little warmth and sunshine.

    1. It is okay now we've enjoyed two sunny days. If this weather holds it will be water rationing next week.

  9. Sorry the weather's bad. I could use a rainy day--where I am it's desert-hot.

  10. By the way I like the symmetry of that pylon shot. It's a good study.

  12. Poor old Adrian, sounds as though you need to find a decent ale house. I must admit I lost interest in the Olympics years ago when they decided to let professional athletes compete. That was when the commercial rot set in. Modern athletes rely so much on the design of their gear it is the companies which win many of them them their medals. Can you tell I'm well into the Grumpy Old Man stage of life?

Oh, nearly forgot - nice scenery and I would never have thought of that pylon viewpoint.
