TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. (30/07/12)

I was awake earlier than usual this morning……….excitement over the Olympics…..NO!

A person who shall remain nameless gave the dogs her BBQ ribs, not her ribs you understand but pigs ribs she had cooked and gnawed at in an unseemly fashion prior to treating the dogs. Their delicate tummies couldn’t cope so I was up two hours into the new day taking dogs walkies………..I was up again four hours into the day walking dogs. I stopped up had a shower and a coffee and there was still a good hour and a half to go before the paper shop opened.

I wish it hadn’t. I get the Daily Telegraph……….it is a touch right wing for me but generally well written and it’s always good to keep an eye on the opposition. I enjoy their sports coverage, enjoy several of their comments pages, enjoy their recipes and am addicted to the cryptic crossword………….I’m Mr Angry today, £1.20p for a forty page Olympic supplement and then the first seven pages of the paper were also devoted to the Olympics….Broadsheet pages at that. One of the pages was devoted to a lady who is not even competing, Paula Radcliffe, I have no medical training but she has always looked fit enough to me.

The pictures today are………..just messing around.

P7302706_07_08_09_10_tonemapped_edited-1Digger. Old Digger.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Indian Balsam…………It keeps raining so I started playing around…………I just can’t help it.

I did find this growing wild…………………………………

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA I don’t know what it is but it is impressive and grows to about four feet or over a metre tall.

I’m going into Darlington tomorrow so will spend an hour in the market. The indoor market is always good for vibrancy and colour…………I’ll do my best.

Have a good week.

  1. I'm guessing whatever newspaper you'd bought it would have had pretty much the same news. In my morning paper there were big headlines and photos of someone swimming in tears because she didn't win an Olympic medal in swimming...

    1. They are a bit delicate. I have competed for most of my life. You wouldn't see me sitting in a corner crying...........well maybe now and again.

  3. The papers here barely mention the games :(( and if they did its only about the events in which Indians participate.

The flowers are fabulous. xoxo Ruby

  4. Now I know why I only bother to get a free look at some of the dailies on frontpagestoday.co.uk. Even my favourite cartoonist seems to have been banished from the front page of the Telegraph since the Limpics started.

Lovely flower, possibly Evening Primrose, Oenothera.

  5. Midmarsh John is correct - Evening Primrose. Don't you just hate it when soemone's comment identifies it before you put in your two penn'orth. Well, I do. Must be my competitive nature.

  8. Adrian, I bet all those bankers, I think that's how you spell it!!, are glad that the running, jumping, skipping lot have come along and got them off the front pages, they can now take it easy for the next couple of weeks and enjoy their ill gotten gains! In the posh seats no doubt!!

Hope the dogs are feeling better now!

  10. I don't fallow the Olympics at all so a supplement in my paper would not please me. As you say some good comment and news.

  11. I for one would love a free supplement. Can't get anything else free about the Olympics here. And no-one could complain about being deluged with Olympic happenings, not unless they are willing to pay! I love the Olympics and lack of free coverage has the same effect on me as the ribs had on your dogs. Love your messed around with digger!

  12. I'm not a newspaper person myself; most news is far too depressing.
I've enough of my own problems at the moment.
The Evening Primrose is a beauty. Lovely plants.
I do like that digger too.

  14. I know a few folks who would be thrilled with that supplement but I'm not one of them.

I hope your pooches are feeling better by now.. and that everything turned out alright in the.. um.. end.

    Fun photos.

  15. I never realised Evening Primrose was such a large plant. Beautiful though. So far I've managed to avoid any part of the big O event apart from the opening ceremony.
