OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA                                             I’ve had a root in the bag for these images…….Derwentwater, a very cool morning three years ago.

Yesterday I went out for lunch after giving myself a good wash and brush up. On the way we called at the supermarket. I have a suspicion that prices are higher at weekends. Has anyone else noticed this? I ended up with two packets of chicken breasts and a whole chicken for ten pounds. These special offers are fine if one is feeding a family or has a freezer as I have neither they are a damn nuisance. Fortunately I was shopping in company so we were able to split the purchase. I kept the chicken and it is sitting in the slow cooker sweating away. The laundry is done and drying in the sun so all is well with my world.

I have found yet another camera to consider. This is a Hasselblad medium format  Flexbody. A posh bit of kit but as rare as hens teeth so I suspect I can forget this one.

Enjoy the coming week and have fun.

  1. It's not at the weekends that they put up the prices Adrian, they seem to be steadily increasing them daily! Still not to worry Dave and the Gang are on the case!!

Your chicken story cheered me up though, when I read that you had a chicken sweating in the slow cooker I had visions of this live chicken sitting there in the dark sweating it's cobs off waiting to find out it's fate! Come to think of it it's not much different from the situation that the rest of us are in at the moment! Good luck finding that 'blad...[;o)

  2. I'm glad you said these were from 3 years ago. When I saw that snow in the first, I thought .......

I've got a nice lamb casserole on the go at the moment :-)

  3. Trevor, The chicken was dead and is still bubbling away.
Millionaires live cheaper than normal folk so they are not going to notice price increases.
I am quite good at building stuff but I would have to pay a fortune to get an old Minolta or Blad serviced because no one is paying for apprenticeships.
An idea for a future post. TIG and MIG welding was a superb advance...I learn't to gas weld aluminium, it wasn't hard but it was something I earned good money for doing. This is just an example of skills that are being lost. By all means embrace modern advancements but look back to the old artisans. They knew a trick or two.

  5. I love photographing snow and seeing photos that have snow in them, but my bones just don't like the cold!
Prices of gasoline here seem to be embedded in a yo-yo with no apparent reason. I mention that because the cost of gasoline is the reason for some prices inching up. However, I do know that the drought we suffered in the USA ruined many crops.

  8. The main reasons the food prices are getting higher is that the worlds bankers are manipulating food prices to make more money for themselves. Same with the oil magnates and billionaires.

  9. Those photos are a great example of how a cloudy day's shot can be better than a clear one. Glad you brought them out.

    1. JoLynne, it is usually the case, cloudy weather and even rain can produce interesting results.

  10. It's always good when you go fishing in your archives, we never know what you will bring out next. Could be real snow before long I guess. The food price creep is worldwide I think.

    1. Pauline, figures indicate inflation at just over 2%....where they get the numbers from is a mystery to me.

  11. Yes all this 3 for the price of 2 etc is galling when you are feeding just one: a case of two being able to eat as cheaply as one. But at least we have food and drink. Many do not.

  15. I swear you have the best landscape shots on this blogger thingy. I don't think it will matter what camera you choose. You've got the eye for the big picture.

But I have to admit. It's fun looking for a lens or two:)

    1. Chris, it matters for print. Window shopping is great and the internet takes all the leg work away.

  16. Supermarkets always seem fine for large family shopping but much harder to find suitable quantities for one.
You always seem to produce great photos from scenes I hardly glance at when out and about. I must try to be more observant.
