PUMP. (29/10/12)

The water pump on the van has packed up. Bless my soul I thought. It’s not the fuse so I've a major job on my hands stripping half the camper to get at the pump. Just as well it looks as if it’s about to rain. I could be upside down in the bowels of the truck for some time.

We were late out for our walk this morning as I got engrossed in a book I was less than enamoured with yesterday. The Lewis Man by Peter May……an excellent read. The only cloud on the horizon is that it’s part of a trilogy and as is usual with such things I’ve read the middle book first.

Just a couple of pictures from today.

octpan29   As always this will enlarge with a click. It’s far too clear to be dry for long.

Good luck to all you people on the east coast of America. It looks as if you are going to need it.

  1. I'm sure that you needed a water pump failure to keep you busy!!! I wish there was something very obvious to tell us if a book was in a series. I know your feeling well about reading the middle book.

    1. Not a very good one....the pump runs now but still won't pressurise the system. I'll sleep on it.

  3. Indeed, the east coast dwellers need our prayers. Your top photo would make a lovely "painting" for a wall in my home.
BTW what does one do to make a photo enlarge by clicking on it? I love that.

    1. I don't understand why my blog photo shows up on Preview, but doesn't show when I publish my comment.

To get picturs to enlarge you have to add a bit of HTML code to your blog template. mark explains it here:

  6. Water pumps can be a right royal pain ita. Mine went on the MX5 and the front of the engine had to come off so I had the timing belt changed at the same time. There was a time when I'd have done it all myself but although the MX5 is reasonably simple by modern standards I wouldn't tackle it now and on the Nighthawk I wouldn't even know where to find it even if I could get my hand into the engine compartment for all the paraphernalia in it. Good luck!

    1. Graham, this one is the domestic pump...at least it's inside. Modern cars are reliable just as well.

  7. I'm not even going to think about that sort of pump out loud in case mine hears and goes out in sympathy. It is such a finnicky thing, that could easily happen. It seems to like going to town - I no longer allow my son to fiddle with it, what he calls fixing it. Hope you get yours sorted.

  8. Pauline, I need a job. Unfortunately the jobs I like are too demanding. It's not good being a cripple.
The pump has been on the blink for a year and I keep mending or bodging it. last night whilst giving it a little encouragement with a screwdriver it gobbled up the screwdriver bit....I've found a new one for £12.00p. Three pints of beer in international currency.....It does pump a bit fast but I'll rig a bleed back to the tank....Don't want to be toos sparkling bright!

  9. Hello Adrian, love that 2nd shot, skies are amazing at the moment. I never get tired of admiring them as they evolve so fast and you have to beat them at their speed to get a good photo! Kind regards ;-)

  10. Beautiful scenery, outside anyway. I'm sure looking inside at the pump was not so idyllic. It sounds like things are pumping away fine now, though, with the new one. Hopefully so!
