SPRINGS. (27/11/12)

There are springs springing up in the most unlikely places. The whole area is awash but things are improving. The constant rain of the last thirty hours has been replaced by heavy showers.

I went for a quick wander this morning.

novflood panmor   This is my South Lake.

PB274692_3_4_5_6_tonemapped_edited-1     It creeps nearer the van but not to worry it won’t get that far.

PB274697_698_699_700_701_tonemapped_edited-1    The North Lake…..I’m not wading through that lot. It’s ridiculous but try as I might I can’t think of any way of blaming a politician…..pity!

I hope you are all surviving…..we are better off here than many areas of the country. I must make a break for the shop as I suspect it may snow soon. That will be fun on top of all this water.

Have a good week and stay safe.

  1. Such fun! But I agree, not being able to blame a politician’s takes away from the fun.

Here in the Marches and around Valley’s End, we are well and truly under water. The river is out and the meadows (flood plain really) where I take my daily constitutional, is now a fast flowing lake. It’s the only description possible. Luckily I live high above the river, I feel very sorry for all those lucky folk who chose, and managed to snap up, a cottage with a river flowing at the bottom of the garden. There was a time when I wanted one of them too.

Come on frost, this water needs mopping up.

    1. ‘a politician’s balls-up’ that should have been.

    2. Friko. You are right. Purchase an old cottage, you would be fine. Churches don't get flooded. Old cottages don't and if they do they are built on stilts.
We are in for a big change worldwide. Politicians in the developed world have lost touch. They don't believe they will ever suffer personally. They are self seeking useless buggers one and all. They think and have done since Wilson, that a wee bit of aggro in Iraq, Afghanistan, or the Falklands will take the pressure off. I really thought that things would change but then came Thatcher. She put the country back a hundred years.

  2. Adrian, how lucky are you? two beautiful looking lakes to call your own!...looking at the dampness of the terrain surrounding the North lake I suspect it might take you a while to circumvent it!

Perhaps to be on the safe side, and looking at the way the weather patterns are changing, you should fit a floatation collar to the van!

There must be a money making opportunity here somewhere...maybe we could sell health promoting muddy water to our continental cousins...okay!..the French!!

    Stay safe in the snow!...[;o)

    1. Trevor I would rather be running a boat. My Lakes are perfect. Not the man made rubbish, no boats on them. No birds either!!
If there was a money making opportunity Dithery's mates would have sussed it. Lord Sheffield and his ilk piss on peasants and shoot pheasants. Don't believe a word they say.
They are venerabley...so vulnerably they wouldn't know which end up a TIG or Oxy set was. Most likely wouldn't even recognise one....It's why they fear the working man.
It's why since Thatcher they have demoted education in favour of the Big Bang...where did that get us. F1 is great this year even the little budget boys have a chance.

      No sunsets I face east.

  5. Glad to see you're managing to keep dry Adrian.

Of course we can blame the politicians for this. It was never this bad when I was a kid.

It's actually stopped raining here at the moment, and there's bits of blue above.

    1. Keith, we can blame Dithery for a lot of things. I prefer to blame the Queen and Thatcher. I must be a misogamist.
I was a Wilson fan.He supported the working folk...I accept he was a bit bent but a good bloke who set up a good system called the Open University. It has now got too bloody expensive. Bit's of blue here but when it rains it pisses down.

  6. Hi Adrian...Back from a visit with my daughter and grandson for the Thanksgiving Holiday...missed your rants : )!
Sounds like some cold political people there so it just might freeze over ; )!! No rain here,we have been having sunny days : ), but temp's are dropping more every day so anyway now we probably will get snow!!
Wishing you sunny skies.. I agree with Keith..about when we where kids!
That was because we got used to it. Mom kicked are little pa toot's out the door to play no matter the weather, and we thought every day was nice...didn't let us sit around like the kids do today!!

    1. Grace i've not had a rant, or as I would prefer a bit of political commentary for a while...I'll have one at the weekend. I've plenty of notes. I live in a field so am used to it.

  7. I can't remember ever wanting to stay indoors if it wasn't a school day. But, my grandkids have always had a TV, and now even the 2 year old knows which buttons to push on any tech stuff.

  8. You must have had an unbelievable amount of rain. We haven't heard about it being so wet in Eng. You could blame it on politicians because of their lack of effort on climate change.

  9. Stay dry Adrian, that lake looks awful close to the van.

  10. Can we not blame Margaret Thatcher ? or perhaps atom bombs !! The working class would be a good bet.

Actually it does not seem much wetter than normal here in the North West. It always seems to be raining.

    1. Petrus, blaming Margaret is a waste of energy. She was always a little mad but now is barking mad. The working class always get the blame!

  11. Be careful and don't slip! That rain is something but to put it with freezing weather....ugh! Fun and dangerous. You still have some great shots of the rainy weather:)

    1. Chris, I really hate it when it rains continuously. I like a bit of rain a bit of sun and a bit of wind.

    2. I know. We can never have it all so well balanced. Here it's too much sun and we like rain and wind....but rarely get it. So when it rains everyone does a dance and plays hookie from work:)

  12. I just bet you don't have any water jets buzzing by the "Sands of Adrian Shores". You've got a great location surrounded by water, what more could anyone ask for.

  13. A nice little bark mulch path down to that lake, a little picket fence, table and chair and you will be sorted Adrian. As for our dear friend Maggie, her housing boom (how appropriate is that word?) and subsequent interest rates going skywards resulted in me being one of the unfortunates to lose their home at the time. OK now thank goodness, although I would swap this house for your motorhome. I love the way you capture an ordinary english landscape in such rich ways.

    1. Gary, put the horses back in yesterday so the picket fence would be trash with those hooligans.
I've lost two houses that way. The truck is fine.

  14. I've been surprised how fast the pools of water have disappeared from my lawn this year. The ground is saturated so it must be the strong mildish wind.
It sounds as though we will be needing the shoe spikes soon.

    1. John. it is not going anywhere up here but then the soil is heavy.
I needed the spiky feet on Saturday. The little devils pulled me over. I did mention to them that I thought they had been a touch inconsiderate.

  15. It looks wet, wet, wet where you are. We had a dry day or two and all the puddles disappeared but more rain forcast for next few days so I guess the puddles will be back.
Hope you have a good week, keep your head above water.

  16. I like the way the swirly sky and the swirly ground play together in the North Lake shot. Wet is right ~ when will you be heading to higher ground?
