FIGHTING THE LIGHT. (30/04/13)

I was out early this morning. It’s a perfect day, sunny, no wind but a bit of a nip in the air.

I really struggled with the light.  I tried a polariser and I tried without. The light was very harsh. I walked the mile or so to Loch Tay.

IMG_0255_6_7_fused copy     The sun seemed to be everywhere…..I was beginning to think I was dealing with two suns.

IMG_0252_3_4_fused copy      This bit of the Loch is easy to get at but to get pictures up the length of the Loch will be an evening job.

I stumbled across a ruined castle hidden in trees.

IMG_0270_1_2_tonemapped    Finlarig Castle. The sign says it’s dangerous…..I thought it was long past being a threat..

I’m away to do my laundry now……Oh what fun.

  1. I just had to google "the sun" wasn't sure what it is. I like the reflection of the mountain/hills in the loch, very nice.

    1. Douglas, I've been seeing plenty of sun. I have also had high winds and vicious squalls. It has been a good month but the wind becomes tiring. A view across the Loch or up it would be better.

  4. Ah so it's not the remains of the castle walls that are dangerous... it's that quick trip to the dungeon.

    1. The hole was only a few feet deep. I'll try and remember the flash unit next time I go that way.

    1. Monica, it is forecast to rain hard but it should clear for later today. I'll go back and have another look round.

  10. You take great landscapes; and the light through the forts is very dramatic.

    1. Jay, it was crap this morning in the rain. I agree. One the National Trust hasn't found. Sorry National Trust for Scotland hasn't found. .... presumably you missed it as well.

  12. One area where we differ Adrian. I love the full, rich light of evening and morning with its colour distortion.

    1. We do differ, I try and get out early and late but do prefer a few clouds about to diffuse the light.
