A DAY OF REST. (16/03/14)

Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest. I was up with the Oystercatchers this morning. That is early for they never seem to sleep. I then watched the F1 qualifying on I-Player had a bowl of porridge and took the dogs a walk. It was still only seven thirty.

I then spent an hour or so wandering round the campsite snapping pictures for the ‘Old Age Travellers Fortnightly’ or some such publication. It was decided that an aerial  shot would be good so I hiked my body up the hill. It wasn’t good for me.

_MG_3173   I came back and dropped the pictures on to a memory stick, popped that into the office with instructions for the picture editor and decided I couldn’t face the walk up the gorge to the falls. One hill a day is enough.

There was just time for a quick siesta and then the Grand Prix highlights were on. I was pleasantly surprised. I think it went much better than anyone expected.

It is warm but very windy under heavy clouds. I took the dogs out for the last of the light.

_MG_3175  Foyers basking in sunshine. I took the first shot from the white building on the right. There is a road to it as it’s the pub. It is miles round by the road I went straight up the hill, I’m not sure it was any easier or quicker.

_MG_3176   There was a brief shower but it soon passed. Visibility is excellent and has been all day.

_MG_3178      The last of the sun until tomorrow. Sorry about the rain drop or bit of muck on the lens. It would clone out but would take longer than the image is worth.

Tomorrow I’ll go to the falls. Have a wonderful week.

    1. Horst, it was shining through small gaps in the cloud but would it light the campsite? Would it hell. The patch of light on the hill is real. The image is a 11/2 stop under and don't tell anyone this. I used the Selection Brush in Photoshop to lift the exposure on the camp site bit by a stop to match the sunlight on the hill. Naughty but effective. This one is an out take but of the fifteen I shot as good as any of the others. It was too windy for HDR. I did take a selection of 4" NSD Grads but didn't need them. It took me ages to find the adapter ring. It had found it's way into the Bronica gear. I shot a roll of IP5 so it will be interesting to see what that turns out like.

    2. It should read 4" ND soft graduated filters.

    1. It is a good spot. It is also uphill to move from it.

  3. That first shot works well Adrian. You had a good incentive to climb that hill...a pub at the top! Wouldn't it be good if there was one at the top of every hill? ( just thought...are the pubs open in Scotland on Sundays?)

I'm still not a 100% sure about the 'F1 show' I think I need to see a few more races(?) yet. And they've started bitching and arguing already!!...[;o)

    1. Trevor, Scotland used to be dry on Sundays but those days are long gone. The pub was shut when I got there. The only thing that takes some getting used to is that there are no alcohol sales before 10am on any day.
Yes i see the Red Bull has been disqualified......Whoops!

  4. Love the sun in the last image.
We'll have to wait for some proper circuits and sticky weather for some breakdowns, they got away from it today by the skin of their teeth before I can be happy with F1

    1. Douglas, I don't know why they use Melbourne, it looks a bit of a dump. Philip Island I would have thought a better venue.

  5. I see why you are a full time RVer. You climb up a hill and take a photo of the park. what an awesome site to park in. Some days we are more energetic than other days so take it when you can.

    1. Red, this site has been open for only a year. When the vegetation has grown back it will be really good.
The owners are a grand couple as well.

    1. Grace we haven't really had a winter this year. I enjoy Scotland but the wind and rain are a nuisance.

    1. Maria, I thought the same. I'll take the tilt/shift lens out and see what it produces in the gorge. It's raining at the moment but the cloud is breaking up.

  8. The first shot is really eye catching and it is spectacular. I've never seen a picture done like that. The second and third are really good too.

I know about walking up those hills. I need a nap after hiking up one as well.

    1. Monica, before my accident I could have done the hill six times before breakfast. I hate being a cripple.

    2. I get your point, Adrian. Even if I have to confess that my own 'before' probably never did include climbing six hills before breakfast.

    3. Monica, I used to be super fit could climb or ski anything for weeks on end. One argument with a helicopter put paid to life as I knew it, it's not sad because I have found the camera.
