WILD. (03/08/14)

At around one o’clock this morning the van started rocking about. It was the wind and not Uma Thurman or Michaela Strachan. Then the rain started so I got up and read some of my book. What a night.

I went out at about nine when the worst of the rain had finished. I still have the midge on the sensor. I’ll get a wet cleaning kit sorted this week. I also seem to have got some water in the microphone. I only just got out and back in time as the wind has dropped but a haar has drifted in and I can’t see anything for fog.

Here is a bit of video I took earlier….couldn’t see that much then.

WILD

I really ought to go out again but I can’t stand the thought of cleaning more salt spray from the cameras, lenses and tripod.

Whatever you are up to this week then have a good time.

    1. Bob, far from perfect but I hope it gives an impression of a summer storm.

  3. I love coast like that, on days like that. I can just imagine rushing out there with the body board! Hope the van is tied down.

    1. Gary, people do swim here but the water is cold. Too cold for me.

  4. Still, I would enjoy my time anyway on that beach. It's so isolated and vast, a really great place to tank some energy.

    1. Mersad, there are some really long beaches here. It would be worth your while coming to Scotland.

    1. Peter, it was a good Force 8. I'll have to check the camera microphone. I think something has blown in it. Possibly a cobweb.

  6. I've been in high winds in a camper. It's not enjoyable particularly if you're in a forested area..

    1. Red, there are very few trees here. I suspect it would be similar to Sunday for a good part of the winter.

  7. Through wind and foaming swell, God was expressing his disapproval re. your unsavoury thoughts concerning sleepless campervan nights with Uma Thurman and Michaela Strachan. You got the devil in you!

    1. YP, I must admit to impure thoughts and on a Sunday as well. He can't have been too vexe as I never saw or heard a thunderbolt.

    1. Frances, I enjoy a good storm. This one was perfect as it only lasted six or seven hours. They can get wearing if they go on for days.

Rain can be a nuisance but it can also make for some wonderfully atmospheric images.

  12. Wild. Wonderful scenes on the beach...the steadiness of the video doesn't give the real indication of what you went through to get that, the sound track at the end is all about the Far North of Scotland.

  13. Jay, it is just fun. The 5D will perhaps never be the same again. It has already had one re-build and I suspect it is getting ready for another.
