HOME BREW. (19/02/16)

It's been a busy week with little to show for it. I'm still building my shed in Blender and have solved many of the problems.
I have spent several hours trying to speed up render times and have now settled on settings for video. YouTube video that is, were I to go for a big screen then I suspect it would be back to square one. The first still is 2000 samples and fine, at eight minutes a frame it isn't very practical.  I render out a series of stills as this allows me to stop the render and restart it whenever I feel the need.
The window bars are better but still not perfect. I make these from a curve and then change to a mesh but can see me having to construct them from a cube or cylinder which will be a pain.
I'm pleased with the spirit still, there is room for improvement but I'm getting better. I celebrated by doing turning cartwheel.
The weather is not looking very good for the weekend. I hope it's better where you are. Have fun.
Ps. I notice that the texture is animated on the firebox under the still. I have checked and the mapping node isn't key framed. It is a free bit of entertainment. Annoying but free. Thanks Blender.

  1. This is really great. At first I though it was a real image when I saw the thumbnail in my reader. The animation is amazing as well, love the camera move when it pulls all out.

    1. Mersad, lots of choices for cameras in Blender. This one is a Black Magic Cinemacamera. The problem I have noticed is a bit of skip at around 100 frames i'll have a good look and see if I can sort it.

  2. Having not visited for a while I thought you had abandoned the travelling life in favour of a shed and a still. The picture. It's a dramatic image. The little video - it's so clever! Next step game-making.

    1. Esther, that is way beyond me. i would like to have a figure wandering about but that is really complicated unless I buy one and that would be cheating.

    1. Margaret, there is still an awful lot to learn and much more still to learn properly. I keep forgetting to do things or do them in the wrong order.

  4. You'll be working for Disney before you're done. The room looks so realistic. I especially enjoyed the cartwheel.

Have a great weekend regardless of the weather.

    1. Marie, I was thinking the same. I bet Disney need someone handy with a toilet brush and a disinfectant squirty.

  5. Missing the sun? Well at least you have the blender to play with--- and you do it VERY well. If I were playing with the blender, it'd be to make margaritas....

  11. Again I've got to say it's very clever way beyond me expertise. When does it open for business :-)

    1. Douglas, perhaps never as I keep getting waylaid. I have been playing with the video editor and the way it's looking i won't be using anything else for a while although Fusion is now free. The only thing I haven't found in Blender is a bin to pop all my sound, titles and video into for a project. I'm hoping to have something to show in a day or so.
