SCORCHIO. (27/04/16)

It’s a glorious day here, there were a couple of sleet showers overnight but the wind has dropped and we had a grand wander into town. I didn’t need much so the trudge back was far less arduous than usual. The Lomond Hills had a sprinkling of snow which set them off very nicely.
I got a Telegraph so have a crossword to do tomorrow when the rain returns. After a quick perusal there is not very much news. The poor Scouse football supporters that died twenty seven years ago have been cleared of all responsibility and it was everybody else's fault. The Labour party is jammed to the rafters with anti- Semites but after a quick read it appears that it is Zionists they really object to. I’ll read a bit more as I can’t imagine having much in common with anyone who supports the State of Israel. That’s the news, Liverpool Football Club supporters are all paragons of virtue and Israel is a benign and tolerant nation. David Cameron is the best prime minister since Churchill and the pigs here are fed and ready to fly.

  2. I found the bird. You like to check our eyesight, Adrian.

Corner Brook, Newfoundland, where my husband is from, has a Lomond St. and a Lomond River in the area. I imagine they are named after your Lomond Mountains.

Great shots of those mountains this morning.

    1. Marie, there is also Loch Lomond which is miles away the other side of Glasgow in the west.
I could have got some good shots of the buzzard but I only had a 50mm lens so that was as close as I got to it.

    2. Of course. I forgot Loch Lomond. The mind is slipping a bit.

  3. Seems you have better weather there than here at the moment. Had sun, rain snow, and it's dam cold.
    Love that first shot.

    1. Keith it's been dryish but freezing in the northerly winds since the weekend. Today is beautiful as the wind is away. You must have it.

    1. Trevor, it does look sparkling bright.
I like the ever changing weather, I saw a butterfly on Sunday afternoon and a miner bee now snow and frost again. Anything is better than constant wind and rain.

    1. Peter, I suspect you are correct. They are a happy tribe in Liverpool for the most part.

  7. Beautiful images of a glorious day, Adrian. I'm very envious as it's more than a little parky here in the English Midland with the odd hail stones and flurries of snow. I was a bloody site warmer in mid winter!

    Best wishes - - - Richard

    1. Richard, it is cool here out of the sun or in the wind. Our weather is a constant surprise.

  8. I love that first photo, the lines in the cultivation seem to try to draw the eye away from the mountain but they would have to try harder. On a dull, dreary day here it is uplifting. I enjoy your rants. They make politics entertaining. Would love to hear your view on Russia at the moment because I don't understand why suddenly it is such a huge threat.

    1. Pauline, it would have been good if the machine driver had given his seed drilling a little more thought.
I don't know much about Russia. I try to keep away from news as it is usually upsetting.

  9. My favourite of the photos is the second (although my Dad might have quibbled about the road being right through the centre of the photo). I grew up when Ben Gurion was the world's most threatening terrorist. I also grew up in Liverpool with a large Jewish community some of whom were friends. I read a biography of Ben Gurion not long ago. It didn't make me agree with his view but I understood them a little more. However I don't believe that it justifies the treatment of the Palestinians in the current situation. They are, in effect, fighting the same war as the Jews fought and for the same land.

    1. Graham, I don't often take anything George Galloway says as anything but entertainment. He is qualified to speak out against Israel as he spent years fighting apartheid in South Africa. I did go out with an Arab lass for some time and she was Jewish, the Jews have been in the Holy land for several thousand years but the state of Israel wouldn't last five minutes if it wasn't sponsored by the USA. Zionists should not use the word anti-Semite to label people who think that Israel is an evil state.
