HOLD THE FRONT PAGE (06/06/10)

It’s a week late and actually on page five not page one but I am now officially a published photographer. An unpaid published photographer but never the less I featured in The Whitby Gazette.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe front page of Friday’s edition.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     Page five.

We went out this morning in misty, cool and damp conditions, I'm glad we did it’s raining now. I’ve been inundated with requests to post some pictures of old machinery….Well one request! We had a wander round but there is nothing of any great interest so here they come the fruits of an hours stroll.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA A combine Harvester.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA          The business end of it with a grain auger behind it.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA             A Crop Sprayer……………………………………

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         And again…………I’m a touch damp from lying in wet grass, I had to do something to create even a modicum of interest.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA        The Plough or part thereof.

I came back to the old bath as it is by far the most photogenic thing around, not that that is saying much.

This barn gable end has possibilities should the sun deign to make an appearance.

That’s all for now, enjoy the rest of Sunday.

A great feeling to see your pictures in print, even if there's no money involved. Good write up too Adrian. A virtual pint on its way. Cheers. :)

  2. Congratulations! I saw your blog post with the deer photos another day but was short of time so did not get round to comment I think. Gave me a laugh though because I remember you spent hours chasing deer in the woods without luck; and then you find one by the sea...

  5. Oh dear. Does that mean we have to touch our forelock and call you sir now. ;) Seriously, brilliant to have your photos published and even a reference to your blog. Great stuff.

  6. Matron, I did the copy working on the assumption they would be too idle or busy for anything other than a minor edit. Pity the pics were of such poor quality. thanks a lot, just started on silage here looks like an easy two crop job this year.

John, thanks. No you don't have to do the forelock bit as being somewhat challenged in the hair department I could never reciprocate. A quick bow and a kiss of the foot will do!

  7. Hi Adrian, now you've joined the ranks of the papperazzi I guess we'll be seeing a lot of pictures of celebs on this blog.....?

  8. Phil,The Whitby Gazette is pushing credibility as a newspaper but who knows? Knowing my luck it will be Kate Moss, I'll keep dreaming and maybe it will be Uma Thurman. Now that would put the hit rate up, a bit easier on the eye than a crop sprayer!

  11. Congratulations, Adrian. Fame at last, huh? Now you might be inundated with visits to your blog. Love the plough photo. thanks. I've seen hundreds of baths continuing life as troughs but that is the prettiest one ever! I once used old washing tubs as a raised garden (back before they were so popular) but when I moved several burly men declared they were not lifting 'that'.

  13. Bob, a plough share, should use you as the title writer and photographer come to think.

Glo, don't encourage me. I have some far better shots of deer and the thought of a bit of cutting and pasting had crossed my mind.

Pauline, yes. The toast of Whitby, almost. Actually of three old men in a small corner of the public bar in The White House.

It's time to live, I wouldn't go quite as far as famous. The Whitby Gazette is somewhat removed from The National Geographic. Glad you pop by.

  16. Well done! Pictures in the paper and free advertising for your brother. You may not have been paid (this time) but hopefully the advertising will cover your beer bill for a while :)
