WISHY WASHY (04/06/10)

imageWe have changed our weekend retreat from Ugthorpe to just off the Sandsend road about a mile outside Whitby. This has no pub but is a working farm. The latter should be in inverted commas it appears to be a non working farm. There is loads of broken machinery everywhere so expect some shots of old iron.

This week has been free of fire doors, (Thank the god of carpenters). Now for the good news I’m doing laundry. Or was, I seem to have spent most of the week repairing washing machines, without any great success. The only positive thing achieved was the eventual purchase of a new machine yesterday. Even Wishy Washy didn’t have to rebuild his laundry equipment every other wash.

Thursday afternoon was the highlight of the week as Molly’s mum called over to see her and we went for a pleasant walk along the beach at Runswick Bay about ten miles north of Whitby.

This is Runswick. Ninety nine percent holiday homes so though very attractive it can be a desolate and depressing place in winter……………..Here are a few more images.

Finally the stars of the show…………………………………….

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Molly and her mum. They both enjoyed seeing each other again.

I’ll try for some more photographs this weekend and hopefully get out more next week.

Have a good weekend whatever you are up to.

  2. I love those old fishing villages tucked into the cliff sides. Easy walking down to the beach but a real test of stamina walking back up again!

  3. Bob, thanks, the weather is really goog summer is here. just a sea breeze in the afternoon to cool things down.

John I agree. One needs the stamina of an Alpinist. On a good day they are very picturesque.

  4. What a beautiful spot! I love the homes on the hill and of course the Molly on the beach shot. I'm predictable that way.

  5. Krista, I hope to get around the rest of these old fishing villages or raid the archives. There are a good half dozen of them within striking distance.
