HIGH NOON (25/09/10)

Or as was the case today High Half Past Ten.

Despite two walks this morning I have yet again returned virtually empty memory carded. The one image of minor interest was this……………..

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA      A Noon Fly here seen taking a post prandial nap on a fence post. It is pretty, unfortunately it’s eating habits aren’t so edifying. It favours horse or cow muck for lunch, dinner and tea.

Let us hope that tomorrow inspiration returns. The weather here is bright and sunny with a bitterly cold northerly wind. No sign of rain so that’s a plus.

  2. It is a very good picture I have to say even though I don't really like flies... ;)

  3. John shot with too much light, and with a 12mm-60mm zoom then cropped and sharpened within an inch or a pixel of it's life. I was getting desperate.

Dawntreader, they are annoying things, dirty things, yes I agree but close up they are superb. If I'm honest I prefer insects to birds. This was shot in light far too bright. I should always carry an umbrella a white one to just cut the light a touch.

Great shot though! I love bug shots. I am not the biggest fan of bugs but sure do love to photograph them when I get the chance.

  5. Now I must confess, I thought you made that name up. Google confirmed its existence. Amazing. And the picture. :)

  6. Krista, the dung fly is truly wonderful. This is it's poor relation. Try and imagine life without them up to ones bits in crap we'd be.

Keith, wise to check but they used to be a common sight. This is the first I've seen in ages. Unless the light hits them right they look a lot like a house fly.
