A Noon Fly here seen taking a post prandial nap on a fence post. It is pretty, unfortunately it’s eating habits aren’t so edifying. It favours horse or cow muck for lunch, dinner and tea.
Let us hope that tomorrow inspiration returns. The weather here is bright and sunny with a bitterly cold northerly wind. No sign of rain so that’s a plus.

ReplyDeleteJohn shot with too much light, and with a 12mm-60mm zoom then cropped and sharpened within an inch or a pixel of it's life. I was getting desperate.
ReplyDeleteDawntreader, they are annoying things, dirty things, yes I agree but close up they are superb. If I'm honest I prefer insects to birds. This was shot in light far too bright. I should always carry an umbrella a white one to just cut the light a touch.

ReplyDeleteKrista, the dung fly is truly wonderful. This is it's poor relation. Try and imagine life without them up to ones bits in crap we'd be.
ReplyDeleteKeith, wise to check but they used to be a common sight. This is the first I've seen in ages. Unless the light hits them right they look a lot like a house fly.
I suppose this only came out at Noon, and you can get your camera ready, woops, it's gone.
