TWO LAKES. (06/12/12)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA   Skating Geese……..Derwentwater.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  A warmer image of Ullswater.

Last night was the coolest yet. I forgot to switch the heating on and by the time I realised it was too cold to get up and do so. I could become a hyperthermia statistician.

I’m hoping that the truck will be repaired next week so with a little luck, a fair wind and Thor or Atlas being willing I should be back on the road soon.

I was sent this so will spend the remaining time here dog training.

That’s all for today. Keep warm or if you are warm stay comfortable.

  1. A lovely view of Ullswater Adrian, and I hope that your house on wheels will be fixed soon.

  2. Adrian, I'm sure that close by, and given the right inducement, you have two capable and willing co-pilots just waiting for the chance to show how clever they are. Given a couple weeks of training and you'll be able to kick back, put on the shades and the bling, and be chauffeured around in style!!

Like the skating Geese by the way...[;o)

    1. Trevor, I wonder what the bussies would say? This pair of pups would argue over which was steering.
I have already been pulled for having Alf wandering the dashboard or the shelf in front of it. No bother. I opted for court and denied anyone would be daft enough to allow a dog to patrol the windscreen. With no photographic evidence there was no case. It never got further than an altercation with an attractive policess. Told her if she played her cards right????
I have lots of snaps of geese landing on ice. It's cruel to laugh but laugh I do.

  3. I've seen many skating ducks and geese, but never driving dogs; until now. Great link. Keep warm. It's bloody freezing here today.

    1. The geese are great. How they don't break legs landing on ice is beyond me.

  4. Hi Adrian...Yes I saw that clip on the news here last evening an laughed and marveled at the trained dogs, but was hoping like hell that I would never meet this on the highway! : }
You got to train yours to turn on the heat!!
I laughed when I saw the skating geese too,but hey they need to make better plans like the photographer should have ; }!!

  5. Back to images of the Lake District as I like to remember it. Have I missed something? I didn't know the truck was in hospital.

    1. It isn't in hospital but does need some work doing. So I've been parked up, saving up, since the summer.
Hopefully I will be away again soon and hope to spend some time in the Highlands.
I'll be on film again as a primary camera. Wouldn't mind a Leica M9 for backup but that is lottery win territory.

  6. Not only do the geese slide in on the ice they start thrashing around and break ice. A great shot of geese landing on the ice.

  7. Always fun, for the watcher, when geese and ducks land on ice.
Dog driving school looks like fun - for the dogs anyway.

    1. John, I have to be careful. pants, longjohns, trousers and over trousers do not mix with watching Geese landing on ice. I will have to look my favourite out. A goose skating along with it's wings covering it's eyes.
The dogs are great. They do learn quickly. I just have trouble persuading mine to learn good things. I will have to use dog treats or a bigger stick. I whistle and mine come back as soon as they have finished the important task of their moment.

  8. Wonderful photos, glad you got a bit of sun (even if also cold). We've had sun and snow and VERY cold here today (-15).

So you'll just be a passenger from now on then. (When you've taught the dogs to drive...)

I don't think I'll have the patience to train my two.

  10. Skating geese, car driving dogs - what next? Don't forget cushions for your two, they are a little on the small size. Want me to get one of those clickers for you?

    1. Pauline, I've tried the clickers. They ignore them. A whistle and a bellow of 'Get Under' works now and again.
