WHOOPS! (08/07/13)

I missed my chance of reflected glory yesterday as I have suffered a severe injury. It’s good to see Andy Murray is British again and not Scottish as he would be had he lost. The Grand Prix was okay but marred by a photographer being hit by a Webber wheel. From what I saw Red Bull certainly ‘Gave him Wings!’ I hope he’s alright.

My injury was sustained in the shower……I don’t know whether it is wise to go into detail…..but here goes. I was luxuriating under the shower when soap got in my eyes. I turned quickly to tilt my face up not realizing my big toe had become fast in the plug hole bit. I have suffered a badly bruised toe and, inexplicably, a nasty strain in my groin. I do have both an elastic bandage and Tiger Balm. The former is for my delicate knee so useless for toes or groins. The latter is not going anywhere near my naughty bits. It appears that time will have to heal me.

I took the dogs down to the beach.

_MG_0876_7_8_tonemapped  I found time to tag the van.

_MG_0868   And take a picture of the waves.

_MG_0856   Sun, Rocks and Waves.

_MG_0860The pictures look a bit dark today so I did one lighter.

Have a good week.

  2. I sympathise with your sprained groin having tripped over a marker string recently in Glasgow when playing croquet and done the same thing. Neither of us should be let out ! The penultimate photo really appeals to me. The last one is art!

    1. Graham, apart from normal aches and pains I've bee good since I came to Scotland. I suspect it's the whiskey and the pure air helping the Marlboro down.
We should be let out but only with a carer.
High Key is great. If I ever get round to concentrating then I'll do a few and print them. I used to print a lot but couldn't sell them. It's a dear job on acid free papers and the printing is a skilled job.

  5. Douglas. You southerners. It duz wont the alloys man and a boom box.
Don't you lot know the difference between Vaseline and Tiger balm? You do! I'm always careful down your way.
He was lucky, they are light but going a sixty miles per hour they could have killed him. The mechanics know what to do. Not the RED BULL ones they want banning.
I'll be okay it's nowt serious.

  6. So sorry to hear you are hurt, Awwh, come here, darling, I'll make you all better :) No seriously, too bad you got hurt like that, A ...watch that toe, mmmh? Last time I had a bruised toe was in 1984 ... when one of our cattle decided to stand on my foot ... while I was trying to help her calf to live on a miserable -25C Alberta day, big mama tried to kill me ... Fun was had by all ... not! Be well and take care. eh, my friend ... Always, cat.

    1. Hey Cat. You are way behind in the bragging stakes. Last time I hurt a toe I was helping a cow to conceive.....and in minus thirty!

    2. Hey Adrian, I don't think you have minus 30 in England. Poor Cow.

    3. Horst, I seem to recall the lowest recorded temperature was -27C

  7. English, Scottish?...it makes no difference, as long as he put on a good show and the great and good can be seen upping their profiles (on the back of all his hard work) by seemingly giving their 'support' to a 'boy done well'! Where was that support for all those years when he, like others in every sport now, was struggling to get to the top?
As for the F1, I'm getting more and more p***** off with the disjointed and amateurish (Perry) show that the BBC is dishing up and they really took the P*** on Saturday...I avoided all the news bulletins etc all afternoon and was watching the last bit of the ladies tennis final while waiting for the F1 qualifying program to start only for Ms 'I'm great aren't I' Barker to announce that 'the F1 qualifying show from the Nurburgring, WHERE LEWIS HAMILTON HAS JUST SET POLE POSITION will follow shortly'...@*>~#<{^*+ BBC.
    Sorry...rant over!
Glad to see that the guy who got hit with the wheel is okay(ish!)

So?..if you've got the treatments around the right way you should now be hobbling around with your groin trussed up in an elastic support and your toe glowing like a mini sun!! I hope things are back to normal soon!

    Dat wheels man, dope innit..

    1. Trevor, yes just a bit of face re-arrangement and a couple of cracked ribs. Up here a broken collar bone is the norm. He was lucky and not as well looked after as he should have been. Red Bull need banning for two races. It would let the other numpties catch up.
Ah! The Dear Suzy. If I had tit's and a nice arse I could have her job....I can talk crap and quicker than her.

    2. PS. Trevor the BBC have a lady director of sport. There should be more of dem ladies in prominent positions like news and poliotics. Not in charge od de sport do.

  9. I always said showers and soap are dangerous. Just think if you stayed dirty there'd be no problem with your toe or groin!
Anyway I think the rocks in the sea are very scenic. some people may disagree with me.
Stay out of the shower for a few days!

  12. If I were you I'd put some ice on the toe. Is it swollen? Even if not; there must be inflammation there. Ice it for about 10 minutes; then immediately run it with very warm water. Then gradually move the toe. Do you have a cold pack in that trailer? Well then, you should.

    2. I'm about better Monica. There was no real damage anyway. I was just a bit short of copy and common sense.

I like the rock...it's far from out of camera but not too far. I quite fancy the idea of a triptych with three different high key rocks.

  18. Hi Adrian...Hey I know I haven't been by and have no excuse except that this darn weather is depressing and not great for photo taken!!
Hotter then the hinges of hell for a 4 to 5 days (like 103 degrees) humid!!
Then when it cools down it starts this period of rain muggy thunderstorms and yuck for another 4 to 5 days !! It is depressing to say the least to get out and enjoy summer!! We are on are third round of this type of weather that started in May! Grrr
I'm done piss moaning and groaning about that!! Sorry !!

Sorry about your little shower trip up, hope all is better with that!
Beautiful waves, and that rock is a great one, and as your last comment said it looks like it is floating!!
Nice look at Adrian's on wheels!

  19. My son is over touring America at the moment. He e-mailed to say the weather was not up to expectations.....Do what we do and blame the politicians. They have all the answers before they are elected and non of the solutions after.
Am thinking of doing more high key images.
