RAINBOW WEATHER. (17/08/14)

I am stopping here until Tuesday as the forecast is for strong winds and there is little joy to be had driving the van in a gale if I don’t need to. It is very showery and the showers are vicious. It’s full waterproof and welly weather.

Yesterday evening there was a superb rainbow. By the time I found my trainers and sorted the camera I was too late for a panorama so just managed a couple of shots before it disappeared._MG_3378

_MG_3379 Squall and Rainbow.

This morning whilst looking for something else I came across a quick tutorial for making a half animated GIFF image. I think they are called Cinemagraphs.                                                                                  knapweed3                                                                                                           Knapweed very annoying Knapweed.

I’ll try and find a better subject for such nonsense. I don’t know where the black frames have come from I’ll have a further play. I’ve played again and they have gone.

Stay safe and have a good week.

  1. Chasing rainbows can be very problematic.

    1. John, I only had to get out of the camper. I was halfway through cooking my tea when it appeared.

  2. You can do these animated images on cellphones now as well. My Samsung Galaxy S4 makes them and the quality is actually pretty amazing. Love your rainbow images, but the water in them is equally fascinating.

    1. Mersad, You can't. I don't believe it. Look at this.

It took me fifteen minutes to make one bit of plant wave about in a gale.

    2. I wish that you hadn't put in that link. I couldn't stop watching it.

    3. Graham, I'm trying to edit video in Ullapool. I have saved Amelia as a favourite. I remember seeing these some years ago and thought at the time they were interesting tomfoolery. Shoot a bit of video of posting letters. I need quite large files but will send some wine as recompense. Any totty with a nice bum will do.

  3. Hell's bells! What did Shirley pop in my mug of tea? I must be "tripping". One of the plants in the foreground of the last picture seems to be swaying in the wind! Perhaps it is time to get my eyes tested or get a psychological assessment. Very concerning.

    1. YP, don't blame Shirley. I did about six of these before I got to this one. It's a still image from a vdeo sequence masked out so the video shows through.
I looked at them years ago. But had neither the cameras or the processing equipment to produce them. Just have a look at AMELIA
God only knows what she has been playing with.
You upset me a tiny bit with all your retrospective dramas. I'm happy to have got my own back.

  4. Hey that must be some wind you're having when even the photos can't keep still :)

    1. Monica, it is like April showers. I'm hoping the low will head your way but it is lurking just to the east of me. Has been for days.
It is amazing wind it only blows on one flower.

  5. Love the rainbow.. thanks for interrupting your tea to capture it. It's cool how you keep learning how new techniques with your photography. That must be what keeps you young - at least in part. :)

    1. Hilary, today I have to re-learn cleaning the truck out techniques. I have known about these for years but never had the software to make one.

    1. Red, I remember most of it. I have tried these before but with a series of stills. It's much better with video..It would have been better still had I spent a bit more time masking.

    1. Frances, it is me being silly. I have to find something to do when it's raining.
It is a two second video clip playing through a hole in one frame of the video clip. It could play through a hole in any still image. It is a little more complex to produce as to get it anything like smooth you have to copy and reverse the copy bit but I'm sure you didn't really want to know that much.

    3. Graham, funnily enough my estranged wife has just got off the phone. Her sentiments were much the same. I'm an entertaining ape but impossible to live with. When am I calling in? She was never very entertaining but a nice enough lass. Now I really have to get back to rehearsing how to put video together.
