It was raining for most of the night so I decided to wander round to Lodore Falls again. It hadn’t rained enough. I have decided to stay here till the twenty fourth so there is plenty of time yet for a deluge and a good waterfall.
Derwentwater and Skidaw again. It’s another still morning.
The falls are just behind this tree.
These are both about 2 minute exposures. This gully needs to be about half full of water for a good show.
Tomorrow I will have to go into Keswick for food. I will do my best to avoid George Fischer’s as I don’t need anything but if I succumb and enter I will find that I come out with socks, shirts and heaven forbid a new pair of boots.
That’s all for today.
That first photo looks just like a painting...amazing subtle colours. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnnie, I have been lucky here so far this year. It looks as if the rain will be back next week.
DeleteSounds a bit like the old Ronnie Barker shop Arkwrights, open all hours.
ReplyDeletepeter
Peter, G,Fisher is a very high quality outdoor shop. Brilliant it is.
DeleteWhen it comes to outdoor gear you are like a drug addict and George Fisher is just one of your nationwide network of dealers. Maybe you should go into rehab - wearing only a lilac shellsuit and trainers.
ReplyDeleteYP, I am fine for clothes. My jacket or the eldest one is a good ten years old but still almost waterproof. I will not go in George Fisher.
Deletegorgeous photos
ReplyDeleteSo what's wrong with a new pair of boots. For a hiker, you can never have too many pairs of boots, so you always have a dry pair to put on for the next leg
R.Mac, I have two pairs so am fine. Modern boots don't leak so dry out fast.
DeleteI love the purple hues in that first shot. What a beautiful spot.
ReplyDeleteHilary, the weather is unbelievable. I shouldn't moan but it is a little unsettling.
DeleteAdriaan you are allowed to buy hip boots if you want to see the waterfalls.
ReplyDeleteBas. I went down to the water but the view is worse. I couldn't see anything. Long boots are no good for walking in.
DeleteThese are so very beautiful. The second one is a painting :)) Wonderful and thanks for sharing them :)))
ReplyDeleteRuby, it is fun taking them. I'm happy you enjoyed the pictures.
DeleteI was thinking the first one was a painting too, it looks that good. It's supposed to be thunder tonight round your way so expect a heat wave
ReplyDeleteDouglas, it does look a little unsettled. It's very warm. I'm hoping the beck will get going for some pictures on Saturday. I may leave it till Monday as it attracts a lot of folk.
DeleteAwesome reflections. It's very hard , as far as I'm concerned, to take photos in a forest.
ReplyDeleteRed, forest pictures only work if there are beams of sunlight. A polarising filter helps to boost colour and cut reflection from leaves. It wouldn't have mattered too much here if there had been more water in the beck.
DeleteGreat forest photos, I could have watched that for hours.
ReplyDeleteBob, I enjoy the forest but it is rare I get any good photographs.
DeleteThe colours in your current part of the world are so soft and beautiful. Have fun shopping (or not).
ReplyDeletePauline, It is a great autumn for colour. I enjoy food shopping but not clothes shopping.
DeleteI love the reflections.
ReplyDeleteMaria, I love still mornings, a bit of mist and things would be as good as they get.
DeleteBoots in George Fisher, you must be in the money :-)
ReplyDeleteExcellent study of Skiddaw
Jay, it is an expensive shop. I have never had anything from there that hasn't been perfect. I still have a multilayer jacket that works and it's ten years old. That works out cheap.
