AN HOUR EARLY. (25/10/15)

It was good to be out an hour earlier this morning. It was still a bit dark but not to worry.

The Gate.

Through the gate and into the forest, the leaves are still doing their best to hang on.

Thank the Chinese that I have flash. We’ll be thanking them for electricity next. Not sure it’s such a good idea but then Dithery knows best, or thinks he does.

Enjoy your week.

    1. Thank you Marie. I'll wander across to see what you do.

  2. Great stuff Adrian. Flash on a dark morning worked well, especially the close shots of the gate and leaves. I could have done with that forest scene last year for a Halloween background.

    1. John, flash is always dramatic. Should be, it gives me control so ambient light doesn't matter. It is normal now with sync speeds up to 1/500s but as my son says just pose and I'll click at 1/60s He really enjoys it but as I am his tutor. We get film back and even his shite is marketable.
Ps I always hold the flash away but you knew that,

  3. Adrian, you mean you missed that extra hour in bed? What a man!

    1. I forgot and you weren't there to remind me. That's men all over. Women also, useless when one needs guidance.

  5. It's reality isn't it? We want manufacturing but we want cheap goods (from low cost economies). We want farming and we want cheap food (thanks to EC subsidies). We want higher wages but we want low prices in our supermarkets, restaurants and so on. We're not easy to please. PS Great first shot: it appeals to me.

    1. Graham, yes I agree but it's fun to moan. Justifiably when ire is directed at politicians.

  6. Well, I'm thankful that we have an excellent photographer who gets up early in the morning when it's still a little dark and takes photos that tell a story. I watch when buying food and if it's from china I usually pass it.

  7. I love the gatepost picture. So sharp and physical too. With regard to China, the invention of chicken chow mein has to rank alongside one of mankind's finest achievements. (Turn on cockney accent) Down't you agree me old china?

    1. The first could have done with another light. I'll set up properly for it. I don't eat Chinese food as I get bad guts and a headache if I have mono sodium glutamate.

  8. Sadly can't say I feel comfortable that a country whose industrial safety record is so poor will be building a nuclear reactor in this country. By all accounts the wrong 'model' of reactor too.

    1. Douglas, it's all very strange. It is usually the seller that pays for the wine and beer and is told by the customer what is required. Here it seems the other way round but then who knows where the kick backs go.

  9. Love the gate photo. You guys will need something stronger than that to keep the nuclear reactor safe.

    1. Bill, one advantage of white dogs is that they reflect the flash.

  13. Love the close up of the gate and all the wonderful coloured leaves. I am sure the dogs love rolling in them.

    1. Margaret, they don't roll in leaves but do roll in badger crap.

Y'know, I thought this was a British expression at first, and then I realized the truth of it.

  17. Thanks for stopping by, Adrian! Your comment on YP's blog were interesting, but I'm afraid you're more technically minded than I am. I'll check into that bit about sensors -- interesting! Nice photos, and I bet your dogs are the happiest in the world with those woods at their disposal.

    1. Steve, I'm not an artist. Photographic directors have that job. I just enjoy the technical side of it.
