CHICK PEAS (14/10/10)

We had another stroll down to the lakes this morning, camera batteries charged so no problems there. The only fly in the ointment was that on arrival there was next to nothing there.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThat’s not quite true there were some Mallard and also a few fishermen. This image will enlarge, not sure myself why you would want to bother but there we go. We had a grand wander back through the woods I lost Molly for a while………little minx! After a few ‘Well Bless My Souls!’ and Oh Deary Mes’!’…. She returned to my exhortations of….. ‘Come On This Way My Little Treasure.’…….Or Words to that effect.

On the way back I did find a couple of subjects worth lugging a tripod, flash and torches out to paint up with light this evening. So assuming I can get a result then, not a wasted walk. The only result I can guarantee is that I will be accosted by some jobsworth for flashing in the woods at night.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Sorry………I said Chick Peas, bet that’s put a few folk off, like eating sawdust pellets. I did of course mean Peachick.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Here is dad a lovely bird………….horrendously noisy though. The bit of out of focus wood in the chick picture is a picnic table, dad is standing on it and mum is underneath and would not come out. I did consider giving her a poke with the monopod but decided it was just one of those days.

We are here tomorrow so will see what that brings. I fancy going back to Tan Hill for the weekend for a few hours of folk music, chaos and lunacy. We will see. Next week the Lake District for some fine autumn colours. If you believe that then you possibly still believe in Santa. Good to travel in hope though.

  4. Bob, thanks and I'm afraid so.

Laura, Thanks there is not as much in it as I was hoping for.

Trevor, Impossible not to enjoy Tan Hill. Yes I'm hoping for some crisp frosty, misty mornings with the leaves all gold red and yellow. We will see.

  5. Chick peas I've seen plenty (and eaten) but never a Peachick, I think (at least I'm sure I never ate one!). Nice pics.

  6. Dawntreader, these are tame you can touch them but you can't lie down to get a grounds eye view of them. Humans don't do that and it confuses them.

  7. First time I have ever seen a peachick though I know how vocal dad can be from the day one sat on my roof.

  8. John I'd never seen one before. Stands to reason there must be such things. You have to be around to appreciate the racket half a dozen can make.
