TWO AVENUES (22/09/11)

image

image   Yesterday we moved thirty miles east to Clumber Park. It’s part of Sherwood Forest. No sign of Robin Hood but I’m hopeful of a picture or two.

The dogs and I wandered out for some pictures of Lime Tree Avenue at dawn. This road has a double row of Limes on either side. I thought it was rather wonderful as we drove down it yesterday. It looked better at dawn this morning

_9227612_3_4_5_6_tonemapped_edited-1    Lime Tree Avenue. I’m still waiting for the light.

_9227659_60_61_62_63_tonemapped_edited-1    Here is the sun. Not before time it was a bit chilly this morning.

_9227669_70_71_72_73_tonemapped_edited-1       And again. I’m not sure why all the trees have a dark band around them. It doesn’t feel sticky but I suspect it’s pest control of some sort.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA       The view from the van.

I’m away out again as there is a lake a mile or so away. I’ll see what it has to offer.

It’s a beautiful sunny day so I may see a Dragonfly or two.

Enjoy the weather and make the most of it if it’s fine with you.

  2. Hilary, it is superb. 3,800 acres of mixed wood, heath and lake. Plenty of birds around as well. The pictures are all exposure blended and pushed. I like the first

  5. Bob, awkward light this morning, who am I to moan light is light. Robin Hood I suspect he may have passed on.

Grace, Saw you back the other day. You are always welcome............I'll go further.......Appreciated!
In proper English there is a difference between Merry and Gay. The former are drunks and the latter are a bit fond of up hill gardening.
No worries, this site has a serious thieving problem but thieves take one look at me and give me money.

  8. Up at dawn - that's pretty impressive! There's no doubt the best light is often then, as shown in your photos. I love the lime trees.

  9. Annie, I've been meaning to give them a look for years. The photos are HDR processed so colour is a bit punchy. This is the longest double avenue of lime trees in Europe...over three miles of them.

  10. Definitely my sort of pictures! The situation looks superb as well. Shame about the thieving problem though.

  11. Graham, it's well worth a look.
It is slap bang in the middle of the Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire Coalfield. Or was when there were coalfields. In those days all would be safe unlocked. After Thatcher they had no future and no communities. That's why there are a vast number of thieving little scroats about.......much like Merseyside.
