11th OF DECEMBER PART TWO. (11/12/14)

I have got a fair way down the road or at least further than I have got before with generating moving light swirls. They are on a black background as this will allow me to pop them onto a bit of video and if I change the blend mode to Multiply the video should show through. I put two on this quick GIF render but will produce half a dozen separately and pop them on new video layers that way I should have more control. I did try to start with them dark and keyframe the light so they glow at the end of the cycle but it went pear shaped. I’ll have another go in blender but I should be able to do it in Photoshop by adding layer styles and keyframing them.

I would like the swirls to be flatter, more ribbon like so I can add a twist on the X-axis. I can do that by flattening the Bezier circle which is what this is, it then follows a path wot I drew but then I can’t get it to taper.  There will be a way. It’s just finding the way. It works fine here with a cylinder and Blender should not be able to tell a cylinder from a squished one. It does have a posher circle called a Nurbs something. It is what CAD programmes use. I’ll give it a whirl with one of those.

light      The project so far……..any help or advice will be gratefully received.

That is definitely it for today. This was rendered in Blender Render I will try it in Cycles Render as I’m more familiar with adding materials in that.

The things I find to amuse me when the weather is bad. I’ll sleep on it. With a bit of luck all will be as clear as mud in the morning.

I make image DVDs. So do you mean you put this on your videos as a added. I love them.
Is Blender Render a program. What is Cycles Render. Gosh I think you are over my head but that's not too hard to do. Tee,hee. A CA.D . Oh my you are good. Photoshop layering. program. 1. Carolann, the idea is to add them to a video. The programme is called Blender 3D. It has several different render options of which blender render and cycles render are two.
I always work with layers as it means I can go back and alter things without starting again.

  4. Adrian for me this is a unknown world, how do you made it? And my question is: can you made it with a foto as background or only one color (as here for example is black)

    1. Laura, yes that is what it is for to go on top of a photograph. I will put the swirls onto a picture tomorrow.

  5. Looking good Adrian, you've put quite a few hours into this and I assume it's just one part of a bigger project? Looking forward to seeing the final result!...[;o)

    1. Trevor, it is part of a Christmas GIF or video. I haven't decided which yet. I hope I don't get bogged down with it. Time I have plenty of with the long dark nights.

  9. So a little later you will work on recycling this project. There must be a lot of satisfaction to get this stuff made up.

  10. There are many less productive things to do with your time. With this you have a pleasant result. I like it so far.

    1. Bas, I'm still refining it. the swirls are now thinner and the material id less reflective.

    2. I saw a something moving among all the stills in the Feedly on my phone and guessed that might be you... It was. As usual I don't understand a word but am duly impressed with the result.

    1. Douglas, they look even better now. It takes me hours to work out how to do it then about half an hour a swirl once I have it sussed.
