Todays post really ought to celebrate my one thousand five hundredth post. When I was looking back there are so many that I could have done with not posting that the number becomes irrelevant.
I am feeling happy as for the first time in years it looks as if the labour party are going to elect a leader with principles and not yet another political clone who will say anything if they deem it expedient. It matters little to me that he is going to struggle to be elected as it will hopefully give people with a moral conscience someone to rally behind. I hope I haven’t misjudged Jeremy Corbyn.
Yesterday we had a superb walk through waist high grass surrounded by hundreds of Ringlet butterflies. I didn’t get a picture but it didn’t matter. I did get some pictures of other things. WHITE-TAILED BUMBLE BEE
Hoverfly (Volucella pellucens)
These should need no introduction.
I am proud of this shot. I have been trying for weeks to get a clear, in focus image of this attractive little fly, it couldn’t have come at a better time.
That’s all for this post and here’s to the next fifteen hundred.
Pups sitting patiently waiting for you to take a pic. So cute! Congratulations on your 1500. That's a hellofalotta photos Adrian!
ReplyDeleteCarol, either I am waiting for them or visa versa.
DeleteFirst of all congratulations to this nice post number. Beautiful walk in the beautiful nature. I have never seen purple poppy till now so thanks for sharing its photo. Greetings Miklos
ReplyDeleteKovacs, thank you. I have never noticed a purple poppy before.
DeleteCONGRATULAIONS Adrain on your 1,500 post on your blog. Quite a milestone. How many years have you been bloggling? Love the images of Molly and Alfie. We don't see enough of them these days. The Hoverfly and next image are fantastic. Glad you are happy!
ReplyDeleteMargaret, I rarely have a suitable lens on the camera but took two cameras out yesterday. I've been blogging for six years I think.
DeleteWell done to you for your 1500 posts as ever a good read and long may it last.
ReplyDeletepeter
Thanks Peter.
DeleteCongrats on fifteen hundred.
ReplyDeleteA shame the wing is clipped on the Hoverfly; a great shot.
Cheers Keith. The big hoverflies are just a bit too large for the macro lens.
DeleteCongratulations on 1,500 posts. I hope there will be many more to come!
ReplyDeleteTina, I hope so.
Deletecongrats on 1500
ReplyDeleteLove those pups. We need many more photos of them.
R.Mac, If I could find them there would be more pictures.
DeleteLots of nice shots. I especially like the poppies.
ReplyDeleteThanks John.
DeleteYour first photo is fantastic! And the bonking beetles shot made me laugh yet again. :)
ReplyDeleteI have never seen as many Linda.
DeleteWell that's a lot of posts Adrian, can't see myself getting there any time soon lol. Sadly Jeremy ain't the man for Labour. His economic plan sucks and will take us tax payers back to supporting dole scroungers. I hate the Tories with venom but one thing dithery has got right is slashing the welfare budget with the exception of the disabled (he's got that wrong). Have you seen Jeremy's transport plans/policy:stone age it's sad as I'm a fully paid union man so and yet Labour still doesn't appeal. People also forget he only just got on the ballot so it could be suggested he won't have the full backing of the party if elected leader
ReplyDeleteGreat images though and food for thought. Which is why I love reading your post's
Douglas, you could be right.
DeleteCongrats on 1500. I love the two dirty dogs picture.
ReplyDeleteThanks John.
DeleteWeird coincidence; I took a picture of a bumble bee in a thistle yesterday afternoon. Haven't "emptied" the camera yet, so I have no idea if it turned out. Like yours better, probably.
ReplyDeleteBill the thistles are just starting to bloom here.
DeleteCongratulations on your 1500 th post. Your posts are a lot of work so that much more of an accomplishment. Some of these critters can be very pretty as the last one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Red.
DeleteWell the Dagger Fly is a really impressive addition to your photographic collection. I'm not quite so sure about the telegraph pole but it certainly makes a change.
ReplyDeleteGraham, the pole was just there.
DeleteCongrats Adrian! The hoverfly is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ruby, I hope you are well.
DeleteYou know I told myself just yesterday that I should just embrace those darn power poles that always get in my shots. Now you've ruined it for me by posting a shot I will compare myself to - and come up well short. Never mind. Congrats on your 1,500 and roll on to the next. Those poppies are delightful.
ReplyDeletePauline, I have never seen a purple poppy before.
DeleteGreat close view of the hoverfly.
ReplyDeleteInteresting composition of old telegraph pole with modern pylons in the distance.
John, I caught the hoverfly before it was properly awake.
DeleteThe telegraph pole picture is one of your best but why is the distant pylon not standing vertically? Has there been an earthquake in Fife? Strangely, it wasn't reported on the BBC News. The bonking beetles have boundless stamina don't they? You'd think they'd get fed up with sex after a week or two.
ReplyDeleteYP, they get more enthusiastic not less. No idea about the pylon not much I can do about it. It takes a real disaster or football to grab the BBC's interest in anything this far north.
DeleteThe female of the ...er....honeymoon couple looks incredibly bored. And you may think they need no introduction, but I've no idea who they are....?
ReplyDeleteFrances and Adrian
DeleteFrances, they are soldier beetles and have been featuring regularly in my posts.
DeleteGreat photos Adrian.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ian.
