LUCKY. (20/05/16)

I almost took three hundred shots this morning, all in focus and perfect but unfortunately they were all of Bees bums. I was lucky to get this shot, in reality there wasn’t much about as it is cool.

I have to go into Perth now to get a big roll of land drainage pipe and then I’m away to look after some horses for a couple of days. The excitement is almost too much to handle. What an thrilling life I lead.

Most of a Mining Bee and mostly in focus.

Have a great weekend.

  1. Collecting drainage pipes and looking after horses... I guess you are doing community service. Do you have to wear a bright orange jerkin and a sour expression? The bee photo is fascinating and so sharp.

    1. YP, just service to others. I don't like hi-viz jackets, hard hats or goggles. It makes me look like a bloody politician. They seem to like all the gear, it's the nearest they get to work.

  2. Wow. Great job on this photo. You can see the hooks on the legs and the texture of the antennae.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Pauline, I will but they are naughty with me. They think I'm a soft touch.

  4. I had a really good belly laugh at the first comment. if you have aany troble with the horses don't forget that Barbara Woodhouse used to tame the horses by blowing down you nosse and eventually they calmly will come right up to you. Have a lovely weekend.

    1. Margaret, It is difficult to get a good shot of a bee. If I bait a flower with honey it shows up in the shot, I suppose I could always clone it out. The horses are easy to catch but not as easy to hold on to once they are caught..

  5. I've been playing around with my new macro lens but I fear it's going to be a while before I produce anything like that. Enjoy your time away.

    1. Graham, I cheat and use a ringflash to freeze motion all I have to do then is concentrate on getting the subject in focus.

    1. Cheers Keith. It's not too shabby for early in the macro season.

  7. Pretty amazing shot of the bee--- Don't let people see you blowing your nose at the horses.

    1. Bill, I won't. It would make me look a bit daft.

  8. Super shot of the bee, Adrian. I'm pleased to learn that it's not just me that takes a few hundred bum (literally) shots, ending up with only a handful that I'm relatively pleased with.

Not many people can boast that Barbara Woodhouse used to blow down their nose!

Best wishes to you and the dogs - - - Richard

    1. Richard, almost is my version of three or four. I did once put my camera on motor drive. I was with Keith and Trevor and they took the piss so I don't try it anymore.
