PROPOSE. (28/06/16)

There is a great deal of ducking, diving and procrastination in British politics at the moment, It must stop and to promote an end to it I propose Roy Hodgson for Prime Minister. He seems to be the only man with an effective plan for getting us out of Europe. Well done Roy you have my vote.

This morning’s wander produced one ‘Don’t Know’ and also gave us a Scorpion Fly to admire.

This is a nymph of some sort, I Googled UK Nymphs and got some very exciting results, if you would like to see them Google it yourself.

The images have been rotated 90° the little chap was upside down under a nettle leaf and yes I did get stung.

This Scorpion Fly fell into the grass as they are wont to do. I had a lie down and took it’s picture. They can fly but never seem to bother going far so it is quite easy to keep up with them by wriggling along.

Panorpa communis.

It is a beauty and it too is backing Roy for Prime Minister, maybe the fly could be Chancellor.

Have fun.

    1. Margaret they are a beautiful insect. I think they are one of the older ones having been around for 250 million years.

    1. John, mine comes and goes. There don't seem to be as many insects about this year.

    1. By the way I loved you Hodgson point! More classic Adrian.

    2. Graham I am surprised that the BBC didn't express a similar sentiment but they have little imagination. It's still Corbyn's fault and of course the impudent plebs that voted out.

  5. I realize you must be very disappointed with Roy Hodgson, but does he really deserve what you propose? Love these photos, especially the second to last! It would be very scary if it were as large as I see it when I enlarge the image.

    1. Pauline I could not care less about the football. It's just a load of tribalistic nonsense.
      Insects do look good big.

  7. After extensive research..endless thumbing through books and going goggled eyed trawling through bug photos on the internet, I've finally got an answer, and...sorry, I've drawn a blank I've no idea what your mystery bug might be! Good photos though, whatever it is?

Afraid getting stung by 'stingers' is part of the job...three of my finger tips still 'tingle' when I touch them this morning, after holding back some nettles to photograph a bug yesterday!...[;o)

    1. Trevor, I spent a good hour looking for pictures of it and could find nothing relevant. I will send it to that site where folk look at things then tell you what you sent. I tried to find some more as a similar thing may help but it seemed to be wandering solo.

    2. Trevor I think it is Black Mirid Bug nymph (Grypocoris stysi). I remembered taking a picture of one last year and the bugger from the village told me what it was. I have not seen the bugger this year, pity, he knew everything.

  8. Spot on Adrian...well done.

Just found this site...http://www.insectsofscotland.com/ Looks like it might be useful? If you click on true bugs and scroll down a bit you'll see a picture of 'your' bug.
    Have fun?...[;o)

    1. Trevor, thanks for the reminder. I bookmarked this site a couple of years ago but it got lost in the myriad of other things I find.
