It's been a mixture of sunshine and heavy showers for what seems like ages. I haven't found any new insects but yesterday whilst greasing a caravan an Emperor Dragonfly flew past. I sat with a mug of tea waiting for it to retrace it's flight but never saw it again.
Last week I spent half a day checking the combine and it managed about a couple of acres but the winter barley was just a little too damp and since then has got damper still. The spring malting barley looks acceptable to my untutored eye with grain heads a good twenty percent larger than last year.
It is all suffering from a surfeit of Dihydrogen monoxide. This chemical composition is a pain. It attacks ferrous metal. It can cause severe burns. It causes many road accidents but is freely available to purchase, no age limit but a pound to a penny it causes as many deaths as tobacco........Why don't government do anything about it? Forgot, they are on holiday.

The astonishing thing though is that Sparrows are Dihydrogen monoxide resistant. They can bathe in it without coming to the least harm (unless it's been mixed with some other compound to increase its toxicity). Sometimes one gets completely bowled over by the quirks of nature.

Trevor it is very warm. I suspect blaming Trump is a little unfair but politicians are there to be blamed. Sod all use for anything else except lining their own pockets.

Marty, I have created many of these but have never posted one. They are fun so thank you for inspiring me. I'll have to get more light into them. I am not artistic but do enjoy playing in Photoshop and have just started experimenting with VFX in video. Blender is getting to be an effective video editor and it's free.

ReplyDeleteThink the local farmer could have done with your expertise yesterday when I put a jinx on the baler. I was filming it when it suddenly jammed and all the tractor could do was shunt back and forth as it tried to pull and the baler pulled back.
John, yes I did notice the fourth little tinker. Balers are a nightmare but I haven't seen one jam completely. Usually if you wrap on manual then open it the mess drops out. We use special words which seems to help.
