LOOK WHO CAME TO TEA (13/04/11)

I’d just settled down to an early supper when I glanced out of the window.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA           The Great Spotted Woodpecker………….it’s been about all week but it is a very wary bird. This was taken through the van window, a non too clean van window, I didn’t dare open it.

I hope to be able to find internet tomorrow we are going to Pooley Bridge on Ullswater.

If I don’t post, don’t worry.

  4. I get fed up of trying to find new superlatives. I'll just have to develop your patience and if I want to get those photos I'll have to resume walking in nature and not chasing balls round a lawn with a mallet!

  5. Pretty bird. Maybe you'll get an unobstructed view tomorrow.

  6. Scrappy Grams, it is a wonderful if annoying bird. Did you get my triptych comment? Let me know if you have trouble.

Hilary, I spend ages trying to get pictures of these. I can hear them but finding them is another matter. Odd problem as they are bright and colourful enough.

Trevor, it is a beauty Pity anbout the double glazed plastic between us.

Bob, I expect somewhere you have much better pictures.

Graham, I've sat with the window open every day to get a close up of him. It is a he. It has red on it's head. They are very camera shy, little devils.

Jolynne, I'll try. They are away at the first movement or sound. I'll have to go onto live view as even the mirror going up disturbs him. There are plenty about, well one or two, in Patterdale. Trouble is leaves are coming on the trees now. I'll see what next week brings.

  12. John, I had been sat sitting freezing for over an hour a day with the window open but as soon as I raised the camera he was away, Woodpeckers drive me mad.
