IT’S STILL DOING IT (23/06/11)

I’m not going to mention the ‘R’ word………..four letter words are out………rude ones anyway.

I’ve been out with tripod, camera, macro lens…………I think there is a slight improvement.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Water……………………….

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Water Drops.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Dog Rose…………….forget the Cats bit.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA And another.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Foxglove…………I’m doing fine so far.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Thistle. There are many varieties………….I’ll stick with Thistle.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Thistle…………….the same variety as the one before.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA       This is that thin straggly plant that is sticky and clings to the dogs…………..can’t find it in my book……Help!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     This is Cuckoo Spit……………………Eventually the nymphs inside this froth will become Froghopper Bugs.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     Stinging Nettle. A bit of one anyway.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA    I have done a bit of colouring in to improve the look of this stuff.

I have enjoyed being close to the van set up in the hedgerow ready to beat a hasty retreat should the heavens open…………..No insects about but it’s fun waiting for them.

  5. That macro is performing well in your hands Adrian.
    Excellent shots, every one.

The sticky plant is 'Cleavers' or sometimes called Goosegrass; posh name for it is, Galium aparine.
I have another name for it.

  6. Jolyyne, It is a hard lens to master...these are the best yet.

Norma, the little nymphs are a grand sight. I'll Try and get some pictures.

Bob, the last one is a mess. I'll keep trying.

    Bob, not world class.........practise required.

Linda, I like the Foxglove........a dangerous plant.......it gets to the heart but stops it.

Keith, too many controls and that's without an extension tube at 150mm it would stand one.
Cleavers.......many thanks for the ID, a month from now the dogs will be covered in it.

  7. Horst, thanks for the encouragement, by the time I've set up the camera, focussed sussed DOF, composition has slipped my mind.

  9. Adrian, the second shot is a real beauty, with a whole little world in each drop! :)

  11. Whoa! Lovely macro work Adrian, beautiful shots. That Goosegrass stuff is a real nuisance but even worse are those burrs that gets stuck fast in dog's coats and are a real pain to remove... literally.

I enjoyed the previous post but understood not a word of the maths ;)

  12. John, a pair of scissors have been added to the kit.......and next time I'll try harder with composition. It is a good lens.

Dawn, I like this as well but it is not sharp to the edge of the drop. I'll take and extension tube next time and get in closer.

Jay, I like thistles, are the fine strands the work of a spider or part of the plant I wonder.

Jan, the best so far with this lens. Goosegrass is a pain............but I agree the burrs are worse, I remove them with scissors.

  13. Well, Adrian, I've seen plenty of macro work and done plenty too. I was quite happy with what I've produced until about 1.5 minutes ago! Technical superbity.

  14. Graham, I'm half happy. I have a really posh Sigma 150mm prime macro. have had since Christmas. I have sussed DOF but have yet to be brave enough to stick an extension tube on it. The weather was overcast and not a breath of wind so ideal. Composition..........well, that's the bit I could have improved on.
