WET UNDERFOOT (19/06/11)

I was out at six this morning, I looked over the Tees bridge at Croft and noticed a dozen or more Goosander disappearing briskly down stream………….well bother, bother, blow, I said to myself.

Not to worry we carried on through the churchyard to walk upstream.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA    Saint Peter’s Churchyard.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA    It’s still a bit damp after the overnight rain.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     There is plenty of this attractive plant about…………..it’s a Vetch of some sort…….What sort please?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA      Patience rewarded, I came across another Goosander family……..no sign of dad…….they were just waking up. I saw these as hatchlings a few weeks ago and thought they had come to a sticky end…………great there is only one missing so pretty good.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA      This duckling is keeping a beady eye on Molly.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     Off they go.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA      A bit blurry but I like the reflection.

That’s all for this morning…………I’ve no real plans for the rest of the day but will either go to see the touring car race at Croft or just have another wander.

Have a good week.

  1. Nature is always best first hour in the morning when animals are off guard. Lovely captures!
Would your flower be a Vicia Cracca (sorry i don't know the English name...
We French tend to use the Latin names of plants with of course a plethora of nice "common names'.
A good Sunday to you, DeeBee

  4. Great reflections. One of the photographers friends - and, occasionally, his enemy.

Yes, DeeBee is correct, the flower is Vicia cracca and the common name is Tufted Vetch.

And of course the Goosander family. Good to see the youngsters; I've never seen the young ones before.

  8. I never see the early morning. My choice. Wonder if I got up and about earlier I would see something like the second shot? Also love the second to last. Appeals to my motherly instincts.
