BRIAN. (27/05/14)

I’ve had a really good weekend. Ben and Anna came to see me. Ben is my son or I think he is, it’s a wise child that is certain who it’s father is and visa versa for paters. It’s one of those things that has to be taken on trust. Anna is someone else's daughter. I hope she is, I should have asked her what her mum is called. Anna is Ben’s girlfriend and after this trip I hope she is my friend. I’ve met her a couple of times before and she was very quiet. She was fine this weekend, just right, chatty and just falling short of bossy, a perfect lass. I expect that will change if I'm not careful, I’ll have to limit her exposure to me and stop exposing myself when she is around.  _MG_1883 Ben.

I fed them like royalty, showed them the sights. The waterfall was pathetic, a trickle of itself when it’s in spate, the weather was misty and dull.

_MG_1882   Foyers Gorge is impressive but difficult to get a clear shot of as the leaves are coming out. They were impressed and I love this area.

_MG_1868 I think this is a young House Sparrow.

_MG_1879   Male Chaffinch.

_MG_1874

_MG_1873  They missed the calm weather and the birds. I guess they have better things to do first thing in a morning.

I didn’t take many photographs, it’s an anti-social habit. This morning I collected some Dock leaves, Grasses and what I think was a Copse Snail it shot in it’s shell so I said Brian stay there, you’ll be fine and popped him in my jacket  pocket. I don’t know where he’s gone. He isn’t a small snail about an inch across inside his shell and much bigger going along. Lord knows where he is. I was going to set him up with food and time lapse him. I never thought I could lose a snail.

I’m waiting for a new outside door handle. I don’t know for sure who broke it but I suspect his name begins with a ‘B’ and the second letter wasn’t a ‘R’. It’s been an expensive weekend.

Have a great week.

    1. Laura, estoy mucho mejor que mirar a Ben. Regresó a casa ayer. Fue bueno ver que él y Anna. Ella le ha calmado.

    1. Carol, it is a big snail. It must have woken up and escaped. I'll pop the next one I find in a plastic bag. Little devils they are. There is a slime trail in my jacket pocket.

  3. It's good to see that Ben didn't inherit any of your outwardly visual attributes Adrian!!
I trust you were on your very best behaviour over the weekend, but I guess you're feeling a lot easier now that you've slipped back into 'normal' mode?

I do hope a tell tale crunch doesn't lead you to the whereabouts of Brian, you're not having salad for dinner tonight...are you?...[;o)

    1. Trevor, I'm a loaner but it was good to see them. Yes I was both sad and happy to see the back of them.
I suspect the milkman was an ugly sod.
Where Brian has gone god only knows, He was only in my pocket for an hour....obviously less than that. I'm fated as a naturist. I was really happy to find him. He's as big as a Garden Snail but with lovely spiral markings on his shell and a grand black stripe down the middle of his back. The things that he has eyes on the end of were a bit short but I'd charged everything up to show you him eating. Ungrateful Mollusc.

    1. Douglas, I'm starting to see a few fledglings now. They will pose and never seem to be as wary as their parents.
The reflections are great for me as it's such a rare occurrence.

  5. Ben looks a fine look chap. You must be so proud of him.
I understand that the kind of snail you referred to has a habit - rather like certain small Amazonian fish - of finding its way into the human body in order to lay eggs. This usually happens at night when the "host" is asleep.

  6. Ben looks like you, so don't think he's anybody elses. The scenery is precious, love that with reflection of mountain and in water, or loch.

    1. Bob, he won't be very pleased to hear you say that Bob.
It's amazing how fast the water flattens out. One minute waves and the next hour flat calm.

    1. Mersad, I didn't bother with the waterfall. It's a pity the Gorge is too steep to climb up. I'd like to walk inside it.

  11. Ben is a handsome lad. I enjoyed having my family this Memorial weekend (USA). We had a carry-in to help the cost of my hosting. At the end of the day, I am weary, but it's a good one.
The lake reflections and the finch are my favorite photos.

  12. Norma, I'm a solitary person but did enjoy having them.
We call Carry-ins, carry-outs. I suppose it depends which end of the job you look at.

  13. Some of those views look like they could be paintings. If you ever get tired of taking photos and playing with the computer, you could try easel, canvas, oil colours and brush...

    1. Monica, that is kind. I enjoy painting but not oils and canvas. I'm more the one for doors, walls and windows. I also shot the reflections with the medium format Bronica and a graduated ND filter. I'll bang the film into the processors and see how they compare.

  14. That’s a very handsome young man, are you sure he’s yours?
    Only kidding.

Those landscapes are fantastic. If you lost your snail around here, it could be anywhere now. Just look at the wide open spaces it can travel.

  16. Ben has a face of good humour, looks like he is quick to smile. Hope he shares your sense of humour. Perhaps Brian had the same sense of humour. Imagine what a laugh a snail would have telling of his narrow escape from time lapse.
