HOME AND AWAY PART ONE. (02/07/16)

The weather is a mixture of sunshine and showers. It makes for a bit of interest in the sky. This morning we walked through the forest and then went to a very pretty town for lunch. Falkland is now residential but was full of weaving cottages, a paper mill and the palace.

AWAY. A weavers cottage the loom was downstairs and the family lived above.

That’s all for today, I’ll show the others tomorrow.

I’ll try and get back to Falkland next week as there is the palace and also a good walk that looks to be worth investigation.

  1. Both places are beautiful, home for its natural beauty, away for the architecture and history. Look forward to more pictures.

    1. Lynda, it is good to take pictures of something else for a change.

  4. The houses especially the second one are full of character. I'm guessing the cones were to stop people parking?
However I think I'd be more happy in aways location especially the lane. Which looks great for birding.

    1. Douglas, plenty of birds about but I can never get good shots of them. Lots of weavers cottages in Falkland.

  5. I like you Home and Away sequence. You're lucky to have such a pretty Away location so close to Home.

    1. Pauline it is only five miles away so I'm very lucky. There are few attractive Scottish towns and villages as most are ruined by ribbon development.

  7. Lovely photos. Guess they are HDR but without being 'in your face' just sufficient to bring out the detail.

  8. A touch of Photomatix? Strong, punchy vibrant colours. I like the weavers cottage and the lane.

    1. Keith most are NIK filters which are now free from Google. Where there were people I got rid of the ghosts in Photomatix but HDR processed in Nik. Nik deghosting isn't very good.

    1. Graham, NTS are a bit peculiar. I doubt I'll go inside as if they don't like cameras I can't imagine their reaction to the dogs. If there is anything worth snapping inside I could make a special trip with dispensation from the Marquis of Bute.

  10. Super images, Adrian. HDR on the townscapes has worked particularly well!

    1. Richard, it's a grand little town for Scotland. The old paper mill is an eyesore but is for sale and seeing the work of Scottish planners I don't expect much improvement from the redevelopment.
