A LITTLE SILLY. (31/01/14)

It has been a depressing day of high winds and wet snow, which as evening arrives is turning to sleet.

I got bored this afternoon so had a play.

_MG_2859

_MG_2860 I shot these at about of 1/3s, f16 and second curtain flash with a red gel. I then colour picked the red snow flakes and desaturated the rest of the image. A reverse white vignette and a white matt completed the job.

It was either play, read or have a serious conversation with some beer.

I should have read my book. These are silly even by my standards,

Have a great weekend.

    1. Trevor it also saved getting rugged up. I took them from the van door.

  2. Love the effect of the snow that gives a real impression of the heavy wind.

    1. Douglas, I like the effect of a small aperture and a middling exposure. I often use 2nd curtain flash on rain and snow. I'm not sure what inspired me to use the red gel and then compound the matter by selecting the red. Cabin fever I suspect.

  3. It looks very interesting, the whole "blizzard" kind of mood, even with the original.

  4. Maria, colour popped snow pictures usually work. These on reflection don't.

  5. I think that it would have been a very atmospheric picture without the need for the red (but you know that anyway) and it kept you from putting on a few more beer ounces so wotthehellarchiewotthehell.

  6. We do these things to take our mind off other things. Distraction ~ not silly Adrian.

  12. Well, you could have minus 12 C and 70 kmh wind. How would you like to sit in your van with that?

    1. Red, I would like to be able to tell you. This is the third mild winter. No shots of ice, I could go higher where the mountain road is shut.

  13. Adrian, I've had almost no free time the last few days. Just took a quick look. Not sure what to say...for playing, experimenting - it's not bad I think.
