I have noticed that my blogger reading list has been failing to notify me of some of your posts. I think I've tracked most of you down. I hope so anyway. I’m having trouble getting my posts to show in the reading list and it often takes three re-posts to get them to pop up. That’s the least of my problems as I can’t access my AOL e-mail account. I have to phone them up which I can well imagine being a horrendous job. It’s impossible at the moment as I don’t have a phone signal here. I can imagine it being quicker to just open a new account.
It’s not been a bad day weather wise. The light was very flat early, then the sun came out whilst I was in and when I went out the sun went in. It’s been one of those days.
South Street Garlieston. It is a smashing little town. I was going to show you more of it but parked cars get in the way all the time.
Just before noon was high water. The burn backed up in quite a dramatic fashion.
This is the weir by the van or it’s where the weir should be.
I am very impressed with this site. Rusty has created a very simple system to prevent flooding and keep his pond at an almost constant level and full of fresh water. Like all things that work, they only appear easy when someone else has done all the thinking and hard work. Brilliant it is.
Downstream of the camp site the water can spread out and there is plenty of room for it. The burn here is about three times it’s normal width.
I was going to wend my way north to Kinross tomorrow. Rusty thought I was going yesterday. I don’t know where he got that idea from. I suspect I must have told him. The forecast for Friday is for gales and heavy rain so I’m now leaving on Saturday. I’ll have a few days in Kinross then head for Glencoe.
Many of you have an alternate e-mail address for me. In the unlikely event that you wish to contact me then give ward.adrian@rocketmail.com a whirl.
If I don’t post tomorrow then have a good weekend.
what a marvelous piece of land with all that water! I'm slightly envious of such a vista.
ReplyDeletewe've received quite a bit of snow today, with a forecast of more! on TV were several closings and delays. thankfully, students are still on break! I like your email url! I would presume it's very fast. is it?
Norma, my URLs are anything but uniform at the moment. This one is fast, faster than a rocket on a good day with plenty of bandwidth.
DeleteThat's not a bad looking part of the world Adrian, it's pretty enough for your aol worries to fade away for a little while.
ReplyDeleteShaun, it's a grand little corner of the UK but a bit remote.
DeleteWonderful pictures!
ReplyDeleteThank you both.
DeleteAOL are still going? Amazing I thought they'd finally given up and closed down.
ReplyDeleteI used to get so annoyed with them sending out so many unsolicited floppy disks or CDs that I swore I'd never have an account with them.
Mark, AOL are a pain and are not still going here. I think I will get a gmail account and ditch them permanently.
DeleteThey do have a feature I like and that is the ability to drop images into the text body of e-mails. I used to be able to do it with Yahoo but if the facility is still there I can't find it.
I have often found that without hard wired internet access, security password interpretation by the internet provider through wifi etc can often be the problem. I am on AOL, and have tried phoning before. Good luck with that little diamond! As for where you are staying at the mo, THAT is nice, and peaceful looking. Hope the New Year went well.
ReplyDeleteGary, I don't think I'll phone. I can imagine it being a waste of time.
DeleteNew year was quiet but enjoyable.
Years ago I spent time removing all traces of AOL from people's computers because of problems that I've never been an AOL fan.
ReplyDeletePS If you do blog tomorrow are we not supposed to have a good weekend?
Graham, I suspect that removing AOL is the way to go.
DeleteYou have a good weekend whether I post or not. I may try for some more video. It is windy enough to be impressive.
Adrian you were able to take, the worse it is not wrong but it is not wise to ride tomorrow, well who knows what it's good for.
ReplyDeleteBass, I don't need to travel so will move on when the wind drops.
DeleteA lovely spot and glad you enjoyed your stay there. Looking forward to seeing photos of your new location as well. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGlo, Happy New Year. I am looking forward to some winter scenes in the Highlands.
Delete... lost track, eh? ... following you still, gypsy boy ... Love, cat. PS: Boy, it is difficult to folow you ... my commet keeps disappearing ... o well, what ever ... Life goes on ... meouw ... until it does not ... Love, cat.
ReplyDeleteCat, several bloggers are having problems. I am not getting feeds or not all of them. Comments seem fine at the moment.
DeleteAmazing bit of work. Try to keep dry - there is plenty more coming!
ReplyDeletePaul, it's wild here now. I'm sheltered where I am parked and the wind is blowing at well over 20mph.
DeleteAre you saying our posts don't show on your list or that your posts don't show on my list. I always get your posts. Since I got my feed fixed I think you get all my posts as you've commented all the time.
ReplyDeleteIs it the weekend again? Have a good one. I'll be getting my map ot again to follow your movement.
Red, I get some feeds but not all. It often takes me several goes to get a post accepted. It will sort itself out. I hope.
DeleteMy sister lives near Kinross. I used to post a map. I 'll start doing it again.
Post a map but if i look for myself I'll probably find some other things i should know!
DeleteAdrian, the forth shot is easily in your top ten. I don't know about technically. I only know what appeals to me...and I love it! It's a little eerie and a little other worldly looking. In canvas painting you strive to make a person feel something when they look at it. Your picture did. I'm not sure exactly what I felt, but something. That's all that matters.
ReplyDeleteI've hated AOL forever. Even when they were #1. I've hated them for so long I've forgotten what I hated them for. But I remember the hate. Funny thing, that.
David, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It should be better around 1300h today. we'll see.
DeleteI like two e-mail accounts so will set up a gmail one later.
I've used several e-mail systems over the years and still use yahoo for some stuff. Gmail is my main e-mail now. I like it better than anything I've ever used.
DeleteDavid I am a gmail man now. I've got malware as well as everytime I post a post the writing goes really wee. It's not been a good Christmas.
DeleteJust had an experiment: Yahoo mail in line images. Drag and drop only seems to add it as an attachment but open the photo in a viewer, edit - copy, then it can be pasted in the mail and resized to fit. Have sent a test mail by rocket mail.
ReplyDeleteScratch that Adrian. It works on screen but refuses to send but doesn;t give a reason!
DeleteJohn, what a day I've had sorting e-mail addresses.
DeleteThe address in this post was transposed. It should have read ward.adrian@rocketmail.com. It does now.
I'm not a fan of cars in the street either as I wanted to get some shots of Burford earlier in the week. I consider it contributes to photographic graffiti :-) !!
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem with an AOL account a few days ago, it kept coming annoyingly onto the middle of the screen saying it can't connect. I'm not sure if it's working now or not because I never use it, something I was forced into signing up for as I chose to have music loaded into the computer.
Jay, I haave got rid of as many traces of AOL as I could find. I have now got a Gmail account for blogging it's in my profile. I am pretty well sorted. I wish i could get rid of DropBox. I'll keep trying.
