Woke to a grey dawn, not really a dawn at all, it just got light. We set off to walk the mile or so to New Quay. Good job we didn't attempt this in the dark a section runs not along the cliff top but along the cliff. two hundred feet down and fifty feet up, impressive. Could do with a little Via Ferrata treatment, this is similar but sans ferrata. Surprised looking at these Welsh sea cliffs nobody has constructed one.
.Not very wide either, good job it wasn't windy. Eventually came in sight of our objective.
NEW QUAY.....the whole of the vista full of static caravans, what a mess. The town is not much better. Ethnic takeaways and chip shops dominate the opportunities for retail therapy, the Pound Shop competing for the business. Did get a paper, took some finding...... Took some photographs and here they are.
The harbour, the second image was the only bollard that wasn't concrete and not just concrete, oil drum shaped concrete.
These are the plaques. Really gone to town! I thought our present government had a rather cavalier attitude towards the fallen. Now in all fairness they may have a proper war memorial, I'm ashamed to say I didn't go searching and I should have.
The caravan park, not as intrusive from here. This is one image raw converted as one image but given a good seeing to. Thought this post was getting a little depressing so I have introduced a little colour. Sorry New Quay I know it looks tacky.
More folded rock, found on the way home. I find the forces involved totally incomprehensible.
Gave my friend a ring, I said.
'I'm just outside New Quay.'
He replied. ' Wish I was with you.'
'No you don't.'
'Umm........, well it was thirty five years ago when last I was there.'
That's your lot.
I get the feeling New Quay mad quite an impression on you lol
ReplyDeleteI do like that shot of the basket things. Are they crab catching things?
(my ignorance is showing just a little here; I'll stop)
