HOPE. (08/01/13)

We drove up from Kinross to the Highlands this morning in sunshine and showers. The light was wonderful but the roads are narrow so I couldn’t stop to take any snaps for you. I’ll have to train the dogs to bang a paw on the shutter button. I’ll have to train the dogs to do what I say and not what they want to do.

It was a wonderful journey. The best I’ve had through Crieff, Crianlarrich, Rannoch Moor and down to the bottom of Glencoe. It is one hundred miles and takes three hours, a brilliant three hours today.08-01-2014 15-43-42

08-01-2014 15-39-02    We are here and will be for a few days or maybe a week. It is not on Loch Linnhe but it is only a mile or so over the hill to see it.

_MG_2597   The view from the van. I love Scotland in winter, the low light makes the colours sing.

We went a short walk to exercise the dogs, they have to be tethered here as they chase deer. They could easily get lost until we have got our bearings. They will be fine in a day or so but missing for an hour or more if I let them run free thereafter.

_MG_2598   A smile for you from Scotland.

We got a good soaking on our half mile wander but also got a reward.

_MG_2599    Rainbow over Achindarroch. It’s pronounced AKINDAROCK. I hope it is.They are forecasting snow. I hope it does.

  5. The pictures are beautiful. The last one spectacular. The colors are really soft. The sky looks like you could stir it with a spoon.

Glad you had a good drive and thanks for posting the map showing where you are.

    1. YP, no scotch this month. I suspect that is the problem. Thank you for the edit.

  8. Is that an honest-to-gosh real rainbow or have you doctored it with your photographic knowledge and skullduggery?

    I hope it is real.

    1. Bob, it's honest but has been edited. I shoot in RAW so have to process all the images.
This is not enhanced and if anything is more subdued than the scene in real life.

  9. Now I know why you like to winter in Scotland...the light. If I lived in a van I'd probably want to head to the south where it may be a bit warmer.

    1. Glo, I used to put maps on every time I moved. I will start doing so again. I'm hoping for a good day today. It's raining at the moment.

It will make a change to see some snow, instead of rain here.

  13. A beautiful neck of the woods Adrian. We are planning a tour of the west coast at the end of the year. Going to put a mattress in the back of the van and use campsites as well. Hope the weather holds enough for you to take more photos.

    1. Gary, it is well worth the drive. It is a long way for you. Plenty of places to stop and you can ignore the no overnight camping signs. There are very few places enforce them and for the most part you have a right to park under freedom to roam.
