In between the showers are these little chaps flying along against a clear blue sky. You can’t tell from watching him but he has one eye recording what is above him and one the things below. He is a St Mark’s fly, he is only here for a week……………………..
So has to make the most of it.
The female is on the left and the male is on the right and they are up to unsaintly business. Naughty St Mark.
It’s also time for my breakfast. Have fun, St Mark did.
My penance for this heresy is to somehow get a good picture of a midge.
This is a non-biting midge and a male of the Chironomidae species. I took is a a favour for GRAHAM. I can’t see how I can get better unless I find a way of lighting it as at 5x magnification the strobes are too close to the subject. It could also do with being at least 10x on the sensor. Not to worry I’ll give the matter some thought.
It's taken him a long time to work his way up country...St. Mark was having his fun three weeks ago down here in the south!...[;o)
ReplyDeleteTrevor, like all saints he lives on a cloud and the northerly winds have delayed him. We have only this week got leaves on the hawthorn and are still waiting for the blossom.
DeleteBoy, that St Mark gets everywhere, rants devil.
ReplyDeleteMargaret he does but not for very long.
DeleteOhh my God, you have really good eyes to observe such miniature animals :) Nice shots!
ReplyDeleteKovacs, it is just a matter of sitting and waiting.
