BEACON HILL (10/09/09)

 OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
GLAISDALE MOOR.......Three image panorama, with polariser and two stop soft grad. filter. A really beautiful morning. Not a breath of wind nor a cloud in the sky.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERATHE BEACON.....Will try and ascertain what it is all in aid of. (Apparently not a lot, the consensus is that it just appeared a couple of years ago.)
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
For once I didn't have to walk.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     LOFTUS TO RUNSWICK BAY.......Another three stitch panorama.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA   SCALING RESERVOIR......Couldn't decide between these two so have included both.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  DANBY
After spending a pleasant hour or so wandering around this moor decided to go back to Scaling Reservoir and give the birds another look. Went to the hide, which was pretty full and the dog wasn't received with unsuppressed joy so walked round the dam. Nothing worth photographing so although a good walk not a very productive one.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     This is a really good idea, perhaps not for the fish, a jetty for disabled anglers. Wheelchair access and a fence to catch any errant chairs.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA SMALL TORTOISESHELL....There are still lots of these around. Pity about the waterfowl but I didn't miss much, predominately Canada Geese today. I will have to stop posting pictures of butterflies. That or change my name to Papillon.

  2. Love those pano shots Papillon. Sorry, meant Adrian. :)
That really is a beautiful part of the countryside.
I shouldn't worry too much about Mollys reception at the hide; I invoke the same response sometimes. lol

  4. A lot of beacons were erected for the millennium so I wonder if it has been there a bit longer than a couple of years.

  6. Some more great shots - really enjoying your trip around the country.

Perhaps the beacon was one put up for the Milennium (millenium, mill - you know what I mean).
