Got up this morning, woke up would definitely not be the correct term. Every time I nodded off the wind rocking the van and driving rain ricocheting off the roof and windows effectively prohibited anything other than cat napping. I took Molly the few hundred yards down into the village, more a suburb of Penzance really, to get the paper. Just made it back without getting wet.
Thought a wander down to the sea would be a good idea as waves are usually impressive, having got down to the coast I couldn't see any obvious vantage points so we caught the bus to Mousehole, pronounced as far as I can gather Mowzull.
MOUSEHOLE........A very pretty place, but too dark to be worth snapping, looking at the moss on the roofs it must be like that most of the time.
A HALF DOZEN WAVES.........I was cold by this time so we retraced our bus ride and guess what? Ten minutes after arriving back out came the sun!
The bus service is very good. All day travel for £3.20p plus £0.65p for the dog with regular hourly or half hourly services.
First impressions are of an area that is geared for the holiday trade but with a smattering of local industry. Unlike Devon it is not dominated by second homes, at least not this bit.
We'll see what we can find during the rest of the week.
It was a rough night here (Wales) alright!
ReplyDeleteYes, the Midlands had it rough but it's not half as scenic as Devon or Cornwall. I adore the area, I find ruggedness quite beautiful. The pictures of crashing sea made me feel restless.
ReplyDeleteYes rough but not too bad, should have gone out to the Lizard be a be naughty off there but hadn't got organized.
ReplyDeleteGreat images of the crashing waves! Btw - are you traveling with your dog in a van for the year? Sounds exciting! What type of van is it? Is there a post on your site with the travel plan etc.??
ReplyDeleteYes not great, middling, thanks. Yes and no. I'm travelling for two years, the van is a thirty foot Hymer with most mod cons. No travel plan, that comes next June when I decide where to stop for definitive images, this year I post ever day what I get, one could wait a month for the right conditions and light. Knowing me I'd blow it then! Thanks for asking. Any ideas are welcome. I'm useless with birds, feathered or otherwise, so mostly landscape-seascape, not a big fan of towns either. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteTen out of ten for braving the shore Adrian.
ReplyDeleteSome great wave shots.
