A GOOD SEND OFF (11/12/09)

We left Cornwall first thing but not before witnessing a great sunrise. Been a wet month down here but enjoyable. We are back in Devon just outside Tavistock on the edge of Dartmoor.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA        The Cornish certainly know how to send one on ones way. Probably glad to see the back of me.

On the way here was flagged down by an old gentleman waving a walking stick. So stopped but overshot by ten yards or so. Up he hobbled to the passenger door and started wrenching at the door handle, all the while shouting open the door, open the door, thought you weren't stopping. Took me several minutes to convince him I wasn't the number 556 to Newquay. I didn't bother pointing out that he wasn't at a bus stop.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA      WILL'S ROCK.......Have included this as there is a story. Will was an Excise Man who got the wrong side of the locals. They waited until low water and chained him to the rock. It appears they took pity on him and released him before he was drowned. Were it as easy to deal with the Tax Man these days!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Just a fence that took my fancy.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA                The road bridge at Porthcothan.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA             Gable end, I've enjoyed the old brick and stone around here.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA                 The Little Egret.

Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we will get a walk on the moors tomorrow.

Have a good weekend, assuming I can post this, I have a signal but only just.

  2. Had to laugh at the old feller trying to catch your 'bus'. Years ago when Lincolnshire had a proper bus service they could be flagged down anywhere, bus stop or not. Maybe they can still.

    Beautiful sunrises.

  3. Keith. Was going out today but did Morrisons first thing and lost the will to live. So A day giving the truck a good airing. In lieu of TV am watching the slow cooker cook. Have a good weekend.
John, They usually stop. I stopped in case he had a problem, he did, not one I could help with. Am finding buses very good on my travels. no one on them mind. Stunning to wake up to that and for a half hour it just got better.

  9. Wow! Some stunning shots. The one of the fence isn't as showy as some, but it is my favorite.
