WHITBY (20/05/10)

All today's pictures were shot on a foray Tuesday and all are HDR.

Untitled_Panorama1This is the one I like least so I’ll get it out of the way and get on.

P5184965_4_3_2_1_tonemapped_edited-1   Reflections everywhere in the steam bus.

P5184917_6_5_4_3_tonemapped_edited-1                          This old wooden stocked anchor has pride of place on the old lifeboat pier………………It is responsible for this and many more like it.

P5184912_11_10_09_08_tonemapped_edited-1 Whitby East Pier.

P5184902_900_899_901_898_tonemapped_edited-1     Many of you will have seen this before but not in HDR. The old lifeboat pier.

P5184885_6_2_4_3_tonemapped_edited-1                       A Whitby Alley.

P5184876_5_4_3_2_tonemapped_edited-1       Pan tiled roofs.

whit1       The harbour.

P5184821_20_19_18_17_tonemapped_edited-1                           A view through the tunnel on West Cliff.

All these images are shot –2EV to +2EV and tone mapped in Photomatix. the panoramas are stitched in Photoshop.

Summer has arrived this week no wind , no rain and sunshine……….Magic!!

  1. Brilliant photos. Took me a while to spot what was missing - how did you get rid of the hundreds of gulls that are usually deafening everybody?

  3. Your photo-art is impressive as always. Your weather is just to be envied. We had fabulous wall to wall sun on Tuesday and it actually reached a tad over 11 deg! But today was wall to wall fog to make up for it.

  4. Am I wrong or are you getting even better??

  5. John, thank you, sorry not to have been around so much but am busy at my brothers. The gulls are less conspicuous this year, half of them will be incubating eggs and the other half are fighting over mates.

Bob ta, give HDR a whirl Photomatix is the best software.

GB, I go on and off this processing, it passes an evening and I would like to think I'm getting a touch more subtle with it. These shots were taken at about mid day so one really doesn't have much choice but to blend exposures. Weather here is Mediterranean, long may it last!

Pauline, I would like to think so but have not too much time for photographs so play with the processing in the evenings. I am rarely satisfied with an image. If I was I doubt it would be as much fun.

  6. I was in awe and didn't have a favorite 'till I got to that last one. Looks like a lovely day.

  7. Jolynne, The last one has possibilities. Will shoot it again in better light. I'll remember awe. Not many people I have that effect on.
