It's the end of another working week but who can tell, the barley has been sprayed and the spray seems to have killed off what it oughta. The harvest was supposed to start this afternoon but it is raining again. Tomorrow is set to be fair so I guess harvest will start tomorrow. It's best to get it in as dry as possible as it saves a fortune in diesel drying it and no doubt pleases the Greta loonies.

In other news the new campsite is coming on a treat. The standings are in and the new access road is well on the way.

A wonderful bit of kit if you can drive one which I can't. I can make it do things but the things it does make a mess. Stupid machine.

You can see the new hard standings and the access road, this is the view from my new home sans a power line which I have removed digitally, took the buggers from Scottish Hydro six months to agree to provide it and several false starts to install it so chopping it down would have been naughty. It worked out about a years job but it keeps the unemployable employed. It's not the line riggers they are fine and could do the job in a day left to their own devices. The smoothed off heap of earth is some topsoil which will be either used here or sold on. It won't be there long, it's about four artic loads. There's some more up by the camp bit but some of that will be required for landscaping.

In other news I have fallen in lust with a lovely camper. She came for one night and is staying for the week. Yesterday she informed me she is a lesbian, could have told me earlier, she's had four days of me being nice. I am not one easily denied fit forty year old totty. Told her that's brilliant as I identify as a woman or whatever is in vogue, I'm an MGBGTQTX. Promise! She told me to fuck off so I guess I'm on a loser.
However things are looking up today, we have just been out on a date to the Co-Op. She got some veggie stuff and I got bacon and black pudding for Sunday's fry up. After that she came and helped with the lambs. She wanted to know what to do. I said at this time of year next to nothing, check for any lame ones and I'll trim their toe nails, then check their bums for shit and pull it off. Money for old rope it is. She then wanted to know what I got paid. That was a bit weird. Told her I get a lamb in November and freezer space for it butchered. She thought it not much. These veggies and vegans are so out of touch. Jack fruit must be grown by slaves. Have you seen the price of lamb, beef is through the roof?

That's all have a good weekend.

  1. I always get a laugh or two from your posts, and this one was no exception. My oldest son's first car was a used MGB-GT and although I am not Q I was raised in Texas (TX), so I'm with you all the way (well, almost).

Sounds to me like your new love-object may become a co-worker. Then the sparks fly/fun begins.

How are Alf and Molly coping with all the heavy equipment and noise thereabouts?

    1. Bob, I doubt it. She leaves on Monday and I am away fencing tomorrow.
The dogs don't seem to notice the machines. There are always tractors, dumpers and excavators here.

  2. Bad luck with the veggie lesbian. What is the Scottish Hydro project?

    1. Scottish Hydro are the folk that supply electricity; they may not be called that anymore, I'll have to look on one of their vans.

    2. Yes, I understand that. I meant what exactly are they doing here? I used to buy shares in Scottish Hydro, one of the best performing electric companies on the stockkmarket.

    3. They just put a new power line in, the road is for the new campsite and nothing to do with them.

    4. Oh I see, I just re-read the post and see the reference to camp site and roads. Utility companies pay good dividends, I think I may still have some Scottish Hydro shares, I sold them all when Momentum threatened to re-nationalise then I bought them all back when Boris got in.

  3. That gave me such a laugh, Adrian. Four days of good behaviour, chivalry, probably attentive smiles thrown in - wasted attention! Too funny.

    1. Pauline it is funny. Could be worse I might have gone really overboard and hosed off my wellies.
