I left Keswick a week ago and have since suffered from boils, plague, aching joints and incapacitating lassitude. We stayed in Ingleton where internet is patchy to non existent. We are now on the east side of lake Windemere where, despite assurances to the contrary we still have no internet connection.
Things are however looking brighter, I’m feeling a lot better, we are in a wood that purports to accommodate Roe Deer, Red Deer, Red Squirrels, Owls and a wide variety of waterfowl. This site is the proud holder of a David Bellamy Conservation Award!…… It must be true then!
We went for a walk round the Deer and Squirrel trail, very steep, almost killed me and then back to the lakeside where at last we found wildlife, Mallard, Canada Geese and a particularly irascible Mute Swan. He allowed me to crouch down for one close up and no sooner had the shutter fired than out came his wings and I received a good peck on the shoulder. Molly found this highly entertaining, she had to have a quick leak before she could remonstrate with it. I, on the other hand will take it some bread next time, the white unhealthy sort.

At least the Molly had plenty of company.
She just wishes her legs were longer.
Spring is slowly making itself felt. There is still snow on the hills but Snowdrops aplenty a thousand feet lower.
The view over Windemere, not a bird, seal or whale in sight.
Finally a tree at sunset last night. This is a P’shop job, not a perfect selection, I’ll have to have a think about the halos on the fine twigs. Will have another go and if I can get it to work, post the method on the other Blog.
All in all an unproductive week. It’s heaving it down at present but we’ll see what the next seven days brings us.

That swan shot is awesome. If you look close you can see the threads from the last photographers jacket hanging from its beak! They are deceptive little... buggers aren't they? ;o)
