REED ALL ABOUT IT (04/04/10)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My sort of newspaper. It’s a pity I’m leaving tomorrow, I was rather hopping to heer that the polise had attested those respisnable.

Nothing about again this morning, discounting a strong and freezing northerly wind. It’s dry and sunny so better than much of the country. Walked the other way up the estuary, and came back via Ravenglass, I’m rather glad we did, it was worth it for the poster.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA    It looks like summer, I just hope it isn’t.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA   The fencing remains are, I believe, old fish traps………This is an old fishtrapper………………….

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA An old Japanese fish trapper.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA little corner of Ravenglass.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     And about half of Ravenglass.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA                        Do you think these will look big in me?…………..Dunnock ask me!…Sorry, I hate bad puns, it’s a pity I can’t resist them.

The rest of today will be spent truck cleaning. Tomorrow we are off to Haltwhistle, where there are Kingfisher, Red Squirrel and Woodpeckers. Now where have I heard that before? Failing the above it’s an interesting town and not far from Hadrian’s wall.

  1. The poster is a worthy rival for those to be seen on:

Does truck cleaning include Molly cleaning?

  2. John, no she goes in the stream on the way back. For some reason she prefers a swim to a shower. Will have a look at engrish.com, thanks.

  6. Good luck with Northumberland Adrian. A county I have never stayed in only passed through. Should be interesting reading as I follow your travels. Hope you bag a bird or two including a Kingfisher.

  7. Inglish as she is wrote by newspapers nevver ceases to amaze me. They even have spillchuckers for heaven sake. Of course they can't help you in a contextual manner. There are such programs available but that would produce grammatical accuracy and consistency. I'm not sure editors would cope.

I was very taken with the inside looking out photo.

As for the puns. Keep them coming. A good groan is good for the soul - or something.

  8. I love that first shot. It's proof that you can't replace a good writer with your word processor's spell check.

  9. John, I ought to have bought the paper but couldn't really cope with the scoops inside......'Missing sheep found.'........'Millom W.I. ban needles from knitting competition.'

    Trevor we will see....

GB, I have a grammar checker but as it highlights nine tenths of what I write I've switched it off.

Jolynne, The first shot saved the day and the post. To be fair it is easily done as an individual but one would think an third party would pick up such things in an organisation.

  12. I laughed aloud at the 'Japanese fish trapper' and even spat at the screen. If you can make me do that, it's five ticks on my approval list. Must read more of your posts... Better get a cloth first.

    Arrived here via Geeb.
