RIGHT PLACE WRONG TIME (05/08/10)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I surfaced from sweet dreams well before sunrise so I was full of coffee and ready to go as the sun broke the horizon.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA We walked down to Barnard Castle. Right place wrong time this is a venue for an evening play. Shooting such high contrast images into the rising sun guarantees disappointment. The reason I went was because the forecast is for rain this evening and a good scout round is rarely wasted.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  An attempt at salvage…………An unsuccessful attempt but it kept me amused……….No, frustrated for half an hour.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA   This is the Methodist Chapel in Barney, it is also clichéd and needs more work. Unusual to see a spire on a chapel.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Footbridge over the Tees a smashing bit of painting but taken for the reflection rather than the bridge itself.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Another bit of castle, the shadow disguises the street lights……..No soul have some people dumping street lights hither and thither.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAInside the Butter Market. No jiggery pokery here, second curtain flash at about half power, exposure spot metered for the light outside. Who needs HDR, I do……….

P7295412_11_10_09_08_tonemapped_edited-1  Shot last week.. I include this view of the outside for those who either missed it, shame on you, or are suffering from severe memory problems. It must be difficult to forget an image as bright and beautiful as this.

P8055576_5_4_3_2_tonemapped_edited-1This another multiple exposure image. I will hope and pray for some beautiful evening light. You can help by hoping and praying that I managed to avoid the attractions of the pub at lunch time.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA What this weir sluice gear is doing stuck in a park I am afraid I can’t say. It is better than throwing it away, a pity to lose interesting bits of machinery.

I will try to get out later but it’s not looking good the wind has picked up and cloud is drifting in. I’ll see. We had an enjoyable couple of hours, got some pictures, the dogs got a walk and I forgot the newspaper in all the excitement.

  1. That sunrise is a cracker Adrian. Best time of the day.
Good bit of salvage work on the castle too. I like the light in the turrets.
Always good to find bits of machinery like that last shot, in unusual places. Like you say, better than losing it.

  2. Keith thanks and all the best. Good to see you Holding up. Not easy when messed about by the unhealthy service. Just done the castle again. it was annoying me!

  3. I took some pictures at the end of May inside the market cross (not as good as yours) trying to get a similar thing going on as you did. Haven't had a chance to post them yet. Barnard Castle has got a lot of photographic potential, keep up the good work.
